Today I'm taking a look and unboxing the Uniden SDS100 handheld scanner. Using True I/Q technology, it will pull in signals even in the weakest environment. There are so many features on this product that I cannot explain them all, but to start, I'll show you about the product and in part 2, I will show it in use. This radio has been out of stock for a long time, and GigaParts just got a pallet shipment of these this week, and they won't last long. Thanks to GigaParts for letting me borrow this unit for some videos, and the link for purchase at GigaParts is below:

I've had one since day they were released. Definitely the most advanced scanner I've ever owned. The color screen is fully customizable and speaking of customizable it's the easiest P25 scanner to program IMO. This is a must have in Michigan!! USB-B port is both to charge And program.

Getting this as an upgrade from my bc125at for railfanning. I'm really looking forward to getting this for my future railfanning trips!

Just received this sds100 today off of Amazon. It works great right out of the box. My HP-2 was on and scanning while I was setting up the sds, then left ‘em both on. I found an interesting call so locked onto it and followed what happened to the kid who’s raft was capsized in a lake. Meanwhile the HP-2 just kept scanning for new calls.

I immediately had an epiphany as soon as another call happened on the HP-2.

With two similar scanners on at the same time I can now follow one call to completion without missing the other stuff going on out there.

Having two scanners is a must. It just took me 45 years to figure that out.

I grabbed one when they first came out. Damned fine scanner. Westchester County NY Fire/EMS went P25 simulcast. SDS100 decodes it perfectly.

I agree with MiTreasureHunter. I've had one since they came out too and it's my most used radio. I have the EU/UK model, the trunking systems it supports aren't used here of course but most services have moved to DMR, which this does amazingly well. In hindsight I should have got the SDS200 since I rarely ever use it on the go.

For any UK/EU readers, the built in database is of no use here as is usual with Uniden kit, but it's irrelevant, the programming software is free and easy to use. Since most of the UK private services have moved to DMR, this radio has made scanning fun again. It's a lot of money, but well worth it. Get one.

regardless of some encrypted comms, it's an essential tool. It's price scares most people away though! Great video, it just teases us though. lol

I have this wonderful scanner but will be posting it for sale. Our public safety in our area went full encrypted for now. The issue to restore is underway. It does so much more, but that was my purpose when purchasing.

Just purchased mine two days ago from Bearcat warehouse and it was $70.00 cheaper than Amazon and Zip scanners both plus I got an extended warranty and preprogramming from them, and it was still cheaper than the final price of both of the other places. Only worry is the problem that they had with that bottom clip for the battery door. Have they fixed the problem that they had with it where it kept breaking and they did not have replacement parts to fix it?

I enjoy my sds 100 too, but expensive with
added features and programming an sd-card
with area frequencies, back in late 2018 for
about $1, 000. However, where I am now, most police frequencies use encryption, so
there is no point trying to receive them, but
it amazing to see how scanners have changed since I first had a synthasized
scanner from Bearcat in 1976, and the
older types before that. Thank for the
review.

I own a SDS100 and I am enjoying it tremendously. I just had a quick question... I am currently using the SDS100 with a Tram 1410 VHF/UHF Broadband Discone Base Antenna. This Antenna is mounted outdoor with a 75" digital coax cable connection. I'm not 100% sure if this is a good idea. Any thoughts on my set up is greatly appreciated. It seems to be picking up my local channels with great clarity (Fire, EMS, POLICE). However, I feel like I am possibly missing out on so much more. The full database is on, and my local favorites are also programed. I just think I should be picking up possibly a bit more. Thanks for your helpful videos. You Are Appreciated!

I love this model. I have to say BCD436HP is great as well. Maybe a little more.

I own 2 BCD436HP's and a Homepatrol 2. Looking to upgrade to the SDS100 since it receives Simulcast better than the BCD436HP.

Is the new version going to have a built in GPS!
I'm wondering why the GPS wasn't included in a GPS based scanner.
Even the cheapest cellphone has a GPS built in.
How much would it cost to install a cellphone GPS at the factory?

hello, excellent video... one question... I live in Argentina and I can't enter my postal code... the question is... can it automatically scan everything that is in the air... do I need to enter my postal code?
