APC connectors wont work like that. Both ends MUST be apc- polished if u want to use it. U also did not mention, that you can use one fiber to send AND receive data. This is handy for "ftth" (fiber to the home) applications, because it cuts need of fibers to half. + Less patch cables, switches etc...

This is by far the most exciting and informative technical video for a non-technical person such as myself...Thanks a million Kevin...and when I say Non-Technical, I mean i'm frightfully deficient in my comprehension of technical terms. Off to get any book I can find on this subject...any recommendations? We found unused MMF fibre optics from the 90's in our community 'off grid' and we just want to understand it enough to utilize its application for Agriculture..farming is the mainstay of our rural economy... Thanks a million for this...i am quite certain it will help us identify and communicate better what we want to achieve
