In Germany we drink beer in room temperature or cold from the fridge but not beer with ice cubes

In Germany we don't have to freeze our taste buds to death to make the beer drinkable...thats all!

Yeah, i did that warm-beer-home-remedy _once_ in my life. _Once!_ Don't know if it helped but it definitely took my mind off being sick with how disgusting it was.

It's not "warm". It's cellar temperature. Lager means cellar. The British do the same. The beer is stored in the cellar.

It's not COLD, but it's not almost freezing like American beer. It's kept in the cellar which has a much lower temperature than the area above, so it's COOL beer. Not too hot, not too cold.

Beer has been around for centuries and I am sure back in the day they drank their beer at what ever the ambient temperature was.

In the north of Europe in the old days we drink warm beer wen we are ill. Yes in the cold some Germans drink Glühbier it is like Glühwein. But there are many thing in. Like cinemon anis and other stuff. You dont drink a cool beer on rhe christmasmarket when ther are only 1 celcius degree.

I was considering the no ice in beer thing. Maybe you don't prefer beer warm, but when faced with the option, people opt for drinking it warm rather than adding ice. In America we freeze the beer for a half hour or so, watching the clock. That being said, Americans do drink beer warm in the context of finishing a beer that's gone warm because it's not okay to waste it. That is the case in my household, unless of course we forget that a beer was started and just opened a new one.

Hmm, I disaggree. At least in Switzerland my grandfather would often ask my grandma to "temperate" the beer and she would put the beer bottle in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes and he would drink it luke warm. Mostly in the Wintertime.

To get the most flavour out of a beer even a lager is to take out of the fridge & leave for 10-20 mins. I`m not suggesting it`ll quench your thirst so well though but you`ll pick out the hop & malt flavours & enjoy the taste even more.

I'm a little disappointed that Americans probably didn't get the stereotype from our Christmas season.
In Eastern Germany, we serve "Glühbier" (mulled beer) during the advent. We probably got the recipe from Poland.

warm beer holds you cold? never heard this as a german in germany. But yes, we drink beer at room temperature, because we are allowed to drink outside and yeah, you cant cool your beer so easy in a park

I noticed in Australia they like the beer icy like -1 Celsius.
Benefit of that really cold temperature is that u cannot taste the bitterness anymore.
Clearly an advantage for piss water Beers...😂

My German family friend has always loved his beer ice cold during our hot summers here in Australia. He drinks his Glen Moray whiskey at room temperature. As for a cold cure, he suggests a spiced wine, he and I agree warm beer is terrible.

American beer is super cold so you don't have to taste it.
