Our troop sold cookies for a camping trip. Day of departure, our "Miss Jenny" never showed. 12 young girls with back packs, waiting in the church parking lot at 6 am. No trip, no money, never saw her again.

Our troop averages over 1, 000 boxes per girl each year.

Things cookies paid for:
Uniforms, dues, supplies, etc for girls whose families couldn’t pay.
Camping trips, hiking, various community service projects.
Trips to several US states and even a 10 day trip to Europe where we got to go to the Pax Lodge in London where girls from around the world come.

A huge thank you! to all those who support Girl Scouts and Girl Guides.

There was a troop in Colorado that raised like 200k the day pot was legalized in Colorado. Fun story

Apparently, she was a cancer survivor and wanted the $$ to go to cancer charities. Don't know if that happened or not.

I remember story’s like this. Girl Scouts father was head of a naval base/fleet in Japan. Basically as a favor to his daughter he offered/posted it onboard. Other ships found out and a box of cookies from home seemed a great idea. Until a carrier (5000 guys) dozens of smaller ships, and other support fleet put in an order too. Once the media got hold of it the USAF used a C5 galaxy to bring her and the cookies to Tokyo. Big party. Lotsa good PR. Next year they banned girls and family from selling aboard ship, instead they would stock them as they could onboard or PX and the profits (remember the pack gets a bit of cash per box) was/is given to school charity’s etc.

Teacher is so real, that was my reaction as well. Screw going camping we could be paying for your tertiary education

"The Maldives every year, " that's the funniest comment I've ever heard! 😂

A very small percentage of sales goes to each troop. It's why i usually just make a direct donation to the troop out selling

In the BSA, we made a very small comission on popcorn, which had 2 problems: It got more expensive every year, and nobody wants popcorn. I still buy the cheaper stuff from a local troop when it's in season, but its WAYYY too expensive nowadays.

Our troop went on several trips - weeklong cruise to Alaska, 1.5 weeks in London, weekend excursions around the PNW. Yes, they do get “commissions”. They can choose to keep their 60% or use it for troop stuff.

We actually only get $0.50 or $1 depending on how big your troop is per box for your troop and the rest goes to the organization

The guy that said 400 didn’t know that’s like the average sale for one girl scout😂

The money usually goes to supplies, uniforms, trips, and even families who can’t really afford it.

I think one of the top sellers of Girl Scout cookies did it by selling outside a weed dispensary

I believe it. I used to work for a wholesale tobacco warehouse. Our building was 3 huge warehouse buildings smashed back to back. Twice a year, the back building, which was empty, would get filled with double stacked pallets of girlscout cookies, which would get broken down into seperate pallets of mixed amounts of flavors. Our local troop in town had about 20-30 girls and would get one box truck full of cookies at a time, usually 2 altogether. Had to get one at a time just because one load would fill every bit of empty space in their local office lmao

When i was girl scout, i sold around 300ish every year and got first in my troop every year aswell. I was only a girl scout for like 5ish years so it was a lot, considering that the other girls in my troop was at most 150.
In my area the girl scouts always rented out a campground with small semicabins(3 almost full walls and a roof over our heads) and of course all the prizes we got for random things like hitting the bullseye during cam, one girl hit it and got a huge teddy bear! It was taller then her and she was around 8 and pretty average build!
And in my area we had a full on store just for girl scout clothes and stuffed animals and other stuff aswell!
