my first LSD trip when i was 19, 6 years ago. i was listening to this album walking on the streets of Paris, to the suburbs, everything was gloomy, the night was endless, all purple and hot.

I first started getting into Depeche Mode around two years ago, when I was going out with my first girlfriend. She broke up with me after about 9 months, because she is severely depressed & couldn't handle a relationship. I used to tell her she was the only thing in my life that wasn't a means to an end, but an end in & of itself. We would listen to this song & I'd hold her & say "all I ever wanted, all I ever needed is here in my arms." It's been over a year, & I'm finally starting to get over her. I realized that she was a sort of surrogate mother to me. Neither of us are entirely healthy. I don't know what it was all about, but it was something very special while it lasted. I can't stop thinking about her when I listen to this song. Long live DM
