I like how Rory defends the soldiers, even though they come from another world. As an apostle of a god of death and war, she knows the valor and courage of true warriors, but also that they are sentient beings who value life. Truly one of my favorite speeches, all anime combined.
Gate deserves to be better known as a manga/anime.

It's awesome how Rory was able to deduce that through the questions being asked, that the military is being disrespected. She defended them and in the same conversation attacked the people that are trying to cause them trouble. She's a fierce demigod warrior, but her intellect is not to be fucked with either.

One of the things about Rory Mercury that I love so much is that she isn't a lover of War. She's a priestess of it. She believes war has a place, a purpose. And this speech illustrates that so well. It's a refreshing take on being a follower of War.

This story did so much things well, in japan the elder respect shit it's so strong that people actually change their entire demeanor because of a measly 1 year difference. Look at how the woman's behaviour changed instantly the momment she found out Rory was at least 25 or 30 times her age...
