Dare I say; this is a far better tutorial than Hitfilm HQ give. So easy to follow. Thank you Film Sensei!

For the color change to gray from source layer...Did you try using the color lifetime panel with gradient and the mix with appearance option of 'first keyframe'? Then only have one keyframe for color. At the lifetime end and that would be your gray choice. The first color "keyframe" should be the particle birth appearance color.

Thanks so much for the video, I followed along and it turned out awesome but towards the end of the effect I start getting particles all over my screen instead of them floating away from me like they did almost all the way through the effect. ??

My dust particles always start from the bottom up? No matter how I adjusted the mask path?? I like how yours goes across the screen how can I do that

This is great looking. I was experimenting with this effect and found that you can quickly get a decent looking disintegration effect using the atomic particles effect. I don’t think it looks as great as this, but it’s very very quick to do.

When you said "15 or 20 thousand" I thought "RIP My Computer." Usually my computer can only do a few particles... and even at that rate, it still operates slower than usual...

Is there any way we can make this effect WITHOUT the green screen? Even if it’s harder?

Is there any way to do this with express?

Don’t suppose there’s any way at all to do this in express?

Something similar can be made for free in express by displacement effect.

I remember watching and learning from your "Super Speed Effect" tutorial almost two years ago at this point and I'm glad that you're improving with your effects. I switched software and went to After Effects, making the best videos I can with my knowledge and posting them as well. Hope to see you improve even more in the future!

It’s kind of hard to tell coz of the lightning and how fast it goes, I always saw it as they turn ash colour as they disintegrated. Maybe it’s easier to tell on Spidey as he dies slower, I’ll have to watch it back. Certainly none of the floaty bits on most of them are any colour other than skin colour, beige or black. I imagine the way to make it so they turned colour just as the particles spawned would be to change your edge layer to a more desaturated/beige tint, and then the particles would just spawn on the body like that?

If for no other reason, thank you very much for the pgup and pgdn keys, I never knew that! One day, when I grow up, no never mind that idea, when I get some cash I am going to invest in Pro, this is just too cool, Thanks again Jay!

This is a great tutorial! Thank you for posting it. I am having one issue that I can't figure out. When I go to the Particle Simulator effect and I increase the particles per second to the 15, 000 or 20, 000 range, I get undesired particles floating all over the image as well as the desired particles along the edge. Everything else works great. Any advice?
