If you're thinking of getting a £229 Gnarbox for a fast SD card backup and storage device, you might want to to look into the RavPower Filehub - a DIY alternative for under £60.

The Gnarbox allows you to backup your video footage to a built-in SSD, fast enough to edit 4k footage from, with the touch of one button.

However the same can be done on a budget with the RavPower Filehub and an interchangeable SSD or hard drive of your choice.
The Ravpower Filehub is a wireless travel router with a built-in SD card reader, portable battery and USB and Ethernet connectivity in a handheld device.

To make this setup a true budget Gnarbox alternative, I also bought a 240GB Sandisk SATA drive - an SSD for computers - that I bought. with a USB enclosure.

Together the Ravpower FileHub and the SSD cost me less than £60 from Amazon. Links to the items can be found below.

Hi !
I'm totally new to NAS, but can you edit videos/photos with files stored on a SSD/HDD--> linked to the NAS, without importing them to the internal storage of the computer?

I have a low storage device and that would be a nice solution !!

Thanks
