"Does it..Hurt?"
"Sometimes you learn to live with it..."
*-Dialogue between Golden Age's Catwoman and Batman about the caped crusader's wounds*

*Fun fact:* This story, released to commemorate Batman's 75th anniversary, is dedicated to Bill Finger, the unjustly overshadowed co-author of the caped crusader

I feel like Bruce chose a fate worse than death by becoming Batman. No matter how many times he stops villains from stealing and murdering, no matter how many people he saves, in the end, if he doesn’t deliver the finishing blow, he’ll just suffer until his last days.
Gotham needs hope, but that hope needs the rest it doesn’t get.

HOLD UP

You’re telling me that Dick Grayson killing the man who killed his parents gets him death row but Joker killing a bunch of babies and eating all of china doesn’t????

Little Bruce: "DAD, NO!!!"
Thomas Wayne: "You're right, son. It would be very irresponsible of me to take my wife and my little son into a seedy alley where they can attack us. I better call a taxi, we are rich for something"
*END*

Somehow all these villains atrocities are not deserving of a death, but a man going for his father's killer is.

In Detective Comics 500, we see another reality in which Thomas and Martha Wayne don't die. However, Bruce still decides to train to become a superhero in order to protect them from other evils, proving that sometimes a hero doesn't need trauma to be who they are. Also, in "For the Man Who Has Everything", he has dream-like hallucination in which his parents were not killed, so Bruce is married to Kathy Kane and has a teenage daughter

Reminds me of that JL Unlimited episode where Superman have a dream where he had everything he ever wanted. It was a gut-wrenching scene where he has to wake up from his dream. Clark was in those rare moments that he got very angry and hit Mogul as hard as he can.

Nice to see Batman's existence portrayed as an improvement of Gotham city rather than as him creating the problem in the first place

Batman's parents NOT dying is like Krypton NOT getting destroyed

Reminds of Flash and Thawne conversations. Even if Barry fixed everything and had his normal life, had his mom; everything else is totally fucked. Sometimes accepting the road you’re on and holding your own morality accountable is the best option. Yes, it hurts like a son of a bitch, but it would hurt much more the other way around. Have a good day everyone.

So sad that he leaves his wife and child to continue saving the city

They basically hit him with the "Spider Verse Analogy" for why his parents had to die.
