Tbh that's how I've seen star lord matches go, you kind of don't see them do much, then they ult and kill everyone lol

That's 100% a former Tracer main. The only mechanic he abuses is his own good aim and positioning.

The thing he does well besides aiming obviously is positioning, when this guy says the enemy forgets about them thats just dumb they dont they are high elo players, they know if they keep looking at where starlord was they will be giving their back to the entire enemy team. This starlord knows where to strike from to make it awkard to enemy backline and knows how much he can extend without dying, even if didnt kill anyone on a flank if he is alive the enemy team still has to respect and cant focus fully on healing their tanks or dpsing. Hope this helps this is useful to any flanker in the game no only starlord.

The key word here is fundamentals. and he is rarely pushing beyond that. Sometimes that is all it takes. Don't always have to make crazy plays or risk throwing. Just pressure, poke, kill key targets when you can but dont over risk it, but #1 DONT DIE. It would be interesting to see a game where his team is struggling and see how he compensates like if he changes his gameplay to push towards taking larger risks or not. Other heroes probably have much different perspectives though. I know spiderman for example seems to be a more high risk high reward type of game. Im gonna try starloard after watching this. I've always been a strong fundamentalist player that's why ive always tanked or healed and dps has been a hobby, I think.

Its always good to remind that his backflip thing reloads his gun, you can see that when he ults he backlips a lot, not only to avoid dmg, but also for that extra split second of dmg that can easily kill an enemy, he can deal up to 260 dmg/s

For DPS, unless you can 1-2 shots the backline like hawkeye or hela, they rely on their ult like starlord, punisher, buckey, or ironman. So they are trying to farm ult charge while not dying and distract while their team pushes forward or get picks.

I'm a casual player but I do watch A LOT of pro plays and analysis.

i'm a gm3 star lord main with 45-11 w/l, and this guy is really good at fundamentals, like positioning and timing. his aim isn't anything crazy for his rank, it's just that his positioning and timing allows him to disrupt the enemy backline, taking their attention away from healing their team. the enemies aren't forgetting that he's there, it's just that they have no choice but to either chase him down (and be forced to stop healing their team, ) or, ignore him so they can heal their teammates, and he punishes that. he does this much better than me, as i mainly rely on my aim and my positioning isn't too great.

I think its not just that he has great positioning and aim, hes using his dodges INCREDIBLY effectively. From his perfect timings of dodging danger, to choosing well when to flip in a fight for the reload, and even at the start of the 2nd match he was jumping partially off a building to get hits more easily and then flipping back onto the building to stay high ground. The details in his gameplay are so amazing, and thats the important thing when your character is so simplistic in nature.

I dont think a Hawkeye would solve the problem, SL is extremely hard to hit if played properly, and he does play him properly.

Would like to see you also look at a match or two he lost so we can see how he was countered

Star lord feels like a tracer, go in be a bother and wait for the right moment to strike

Tracers always been the most fun character and starlords ult just makes it 10x better imo

We see diamond players do this too but the main difference is that he’s coordinating his pushes with his team, getting dmg buff from Mantis and getting heals from their Luna whilst defending.

I play my SL similar to this. Always go in and out until ult. I'll admit I sometimes over extend and be too aggressive and that gets me killed. But yeah, I hated playing Trader in OW, but SL is just super fun and it is 100% because his mobility feels so fun.

I think this video is quite informative, thanks for the demo review mechant! I also feel like this is serve as excellent point for future comparisons how the game evolves and players eventually getting new strats, metas and counters which will be very exciting to witness.

He plays like people play tracer in overwatch. Poking to get his Ultimate and putting on pressure constantly

This is what I love about this game. Imagine Tracer where her jumps auto reload her weapon, she a jetpack to get to high ground and she has the best Ultimate in Overwatch. Sure, you don't have Recall but that kinda sucks anyway her opponents usually can figure out where she recalled to. Star Lord is Trace on steroids and he's probably just a Top 5 duelist if that in the game (it's almost unanimous that Hela, Hawkeye and Psylocke are better and many feel Winter Soldier and Moon Knight are up there too).

I always thought the vanguard/tanks were letting the healers farm for ults and never thought about the other team ult farming
