Ask a Therapist: What is Heteronormativity?

Показать описание
Heteronormativity is the assumption that all people are born heterosexual. It also assumes people are born Cisgender, Monogamous, and with desire for the "opposite" sex.
Heteronormativity is woven into so many areas of our lives. It informs how people respond to us, how they see us, and what they expect from us. It also informs how we see ourselves. In this week's Ask a Therapist video, we learn how to recognize the assumptions that Heteronormativity puts on our lives, and how to move past them.
