How to remove the base plate from your sewing machine

Breaking a needle in the middle of a project is a pain. Not being able to find the broken part is even more frustrating. Removing the base plate on your sewing machine is by far the safest way to access the broken tip.

Follow these instructions and you'll be back on track in no time.

This video works for a Brother FS70wTX but in reality, it's the same for most machine types.

Not long got this machine, brought it using a bit of money my late mother left me, at the moment making memory dogs, bears and owls out of her clothes. So all advice would be well received, with this and all machines I've had I am lousy when it comes to the tension, so a future video with tips about the tension would be most welcome. Thankyou.

If I wasn’t able to entirely get out the needle that fell under the base plate, will that affect performance? I’ve noticed that I have lots of skipped stitches but I’m not sure if that’s the cause or im just going crazy 😅

thankyou for the video, I had no problems getting the plate off, it was getting it back on that was the problem, I had inserted the front in but the back simply would not just pop back in, took a while but i managed it. Don't know how managed it first time, practice makes perfect I guess. thanks again

Remember when you were unboxing? And you were going through all the goodies that came with the machine? That thing that you called thing, is also screwdriver for them screws on the presser plate. Well thats what I think it is anyway.

I’ve tried everything to open the screws, with dimes, screwdrivers, pins, scissors and more. They are screwed too tight and I can’t get them to open!!
