My Mother and I have ridden together for 30 years. Once she hit 65 she bought the "bagger" version of the Canam and loves it. The 3 wheels gives her the confidence to continue riding without worrying about the weight of the bike when making U-turns or being on gravel. She turns 76 this year (don't let her know I told y'all), and we plan to take a long trip up into the Blue Ridge Parkway next spring. Keep riding as long as you can, on whatever makes you happy!

I rode 2 wheels for a long time. I had to stop about 20 years ago. In 2019 I saw my first Spyder and felt that maybe I could ride again. I have never looked back. For me and my wife (who rides her own Spyder), these are awesome. To each their own. Ride your ride. Be safe.

You hit the nail on the head. I own a Spyder, never rode on 2 wheels, 65 years old, and I love it.

Trikes might be used as an alternative to bikes, but they offer a different experience, with the stability and comfort of a car, but with a riding experience.
No more worries with treacherous road conditions, oil slicks, wet leaves, slippery ironmongery and potholes and if you have to perform emergency braking you'll remain upright.
From a practical point of view Trikes make so much sense.

Thanks for the review. I am in my 60's and grew up on bikes. My wife and I love to ride. When I got to where my Yamaha 1900cc Stratoliner was a little too much for me to handle with my wife on the back I thought I was going to have to give up riding. This was the best way for us to stay on the road feeling the open air. We love our 2013 Spyder RT Limited. We have owned it for 4 years now. Enjoy every minute of it.

I have been writing two wheels since 1960. I have owned three Harleys and two BMWs and many many Hondas. I am on my second Can-Am SpYder (RT-L's) since 2014. Since my right knee went bad, I skipped the two wheelers and love the three-wheelers. I just turned the young age of 77 and I plan on riding for many more years. Ride safe.
BTW, the F3's are the sports version of the SpYders. That is why you may think they are a bit twitchy. See if you can test right the RT limited, you will find it a lot smoother both in ride, and handling.

Once you get used to it the steering is not twitchy at all. Just as much fun but safer than two wheels. I love my Spyder.

I'm 65 and have been riding motorcycles my since the age of 8. Last year I sold my 2016 Vulcan Voyager for a 2022 Spyder RT Limited Sea to Sky edition in order to continue touring with my wife and our dog. I still own a Suzuki Boulevard M50 for riding around town and back-roads by myself.
I also found my Spyder a bit squirrely initially, but discovered that they need to be aligned based on the expected load. Toe-in is set to zero (0) at the factory. Because of the double "A" arm suspension system, they will toe-out when weight is added. Toe-out will cause the Spyder to follow road imperfections. Once you get the Spyder Laser-aligned and configured for the weight of the Driver and passenger, handling will improve tremendously.

Thanks for your unbiased opinion as a two wheeler.
We have a 2022 Spyder RT Ltd, having never ridden a motorcycle before this was an easy fix for us. Plus my wife has balance issues on two wheels so this is great for her too. Still allows us to hit the open road, & get the wind in your face & ride with our friends that have two wheels! We really love it, in fact my wife has clocked up more kms than I have. The steering is quite sensitive but you get used to it, probably because of the power steering. I have switched out the factory sway bar for an aftermarket one as it was feeling uncomfortable in corners & when passed by large semi trucks. Plus when there’s sidewinds. This has made it a different ride altogether & once the spring comes we will be out there once again to enjoy some more rides! Regards Stephen Alberta Canada.

My wife purchased one last summer so she could ride with me and the motorcycle club I belong to. Our club have a number of Can- Am Spyder riders. Can-Am had a local school to teach her how to ride it. She loves it! Since she didn't have a three wheel license endorsement at time of purchased I broke it in for her. The brake in consisted taking it south on Colorado 285 then north over Guanella pass ( 11669 ft ) over to Georgetown to I-70 back to Denver. Plus a few short trips. The Can-am wasn't even breathing hard. The heated seat and grips kept me nice and warm. I put 1000 mile on the bike. It takes about 1000 mile to get use to it and once you do you will love it! My wife wants me to buy one now. It's tempting!

As a long time two wheel rider (mid 60's), I went to an F3 about 2.5 years ago. I have no physical issues that caused that change. I have found no reason to not like my Spyder and in fact I am about to swap it out for an RT limited. The Spyders are unique unto themselves in most everything that matters. Every person I have talked to has the same experience with the twitchy steering, it is you not the Spyder. The Spyder runs like it is on rails, once you adjust your brain to the different you will love it. My Spyder is a base no frills version with the manual transmission, I added a windshield and that is it for rider comfort. I have done close to 500 miles in a day with it and was just fine. Like every other bike, it is not for everyone. No bike is universally loved. They are no more expensive or less reliable than any other bike out there. Only issue is there are fewer dealerships than other brands. Having said that, they are not difficult to do most routine maintenance work on with common tools. They are as fast as they need to be and are inherently more stable. Word of warning, beware the brakes, they are really good at their jobs and do it in a straight line. Short answer is ride what you want, you don't need to care what others are doing.

I'm in my 60s, been riding 2 wheels for over 40 years. My knees suffer from arthritis and moving a big bike around was getting difficult and painful (Last bike was a Triumph Thunderbird Storm, 1700cc!) so 3-wheels are th best option for me. Choice of Harley Tri-Glide and the Can-Am Spyder. Spyder will be the one because it's "different"!

For the F3T, F3 Limited, and RT, I wish they'd figure out a 7 speed gearbox. An extra gear for highway cruising would be nice to help improve the MPGs slightly.

I rode 2 wheels for more than 30 years. Now that I'm in my 70's, I don't have the leg strength to pick a full touring bike off the sidestand, and I sure don't feel comfortable about picking up a big bike if I ever dropped it. My wife loves the Spyder. She says she feels much more secure with 3 wheels rather than 2. For people with physical limitations, It's almost as much fun as a 2 wheeler, and much more practical.

I have over 40, 000 miles on two wheels, but I can’t trust my legs anymore due to rheumatoid arthritis. So I bought a ‘23 Spyder F3-T. it’s definitely different than two wheels, but it’s really fun. Rides like a quad, but you should get used to it pretty quickly. The biggest issue I’m having is keeping the left front wheel in my lane. Being used to riding two wheels, I ride in the left tire track so my Spyder’s wheel is on or over the center line. A few more rides and I think I’ll get used to riding in the center of the lane.

40+ year healthy rider. The Spyder was interesting to me so I sold my Victory tourer and went all in. It is different, but we just got back from NW Arkansas where the big RT handled the curves great. So, don’t discount picking up and riding one of these just because. Also, the more seat time you get, the twitchy goes away. 2 up down the interstate, I guide it along with two fingers.
Cool video, thank you for sharing.

After 40 plus years of Harley riding, arthritic knees finally put a stop to the enjoyment of 2 wheels.
I still need the thrill of being behind handlebars so a Spyder was the best choice. Didn't really think I'd like it after the Harleys, but it's amazing fun! I can overtake just as quickly as any 2 wheeler without worrying about road surfaces. It also extends my riding season because I can ride on roads that would be dangerously slippery on 2 wheels.
With heated seats, heated grips, backrest and tons of storage, really long trips are a joy, not a chore.
Yep, I'm happy! Though my girlfriend has never forgiven me for giving the Harley to my son 😂😂

When I am a geezer I will certainly take this over a Harley trike.

I have owned 42 motorcycles in my life and currently ride a 2021 BMW R9T and a Can Am Spyder F3L. I love them both for different reasons. I take the BMW of shorter day, or two, rides of 200-300 miles and use the F3L for week long trips. Much more comfortable and you can load her up with gear. They are two different rides but both are enjoyable!
