"Wednesday" has been the talk of TV Twitter lately, but not always for a good reason. So what's really going on with the sudden Tim Burton backlash?

What is your honest opinion of Wednesday?

Eh??? The villains are literally all white? Tyler, Christina Ricci's character (can't remember her name) and Cragstone are all white villains. Wednesday isn't just rude to the black characters either, she's literally rude to everyone. And Bianca and the mayor's son, whilst being somewhat 'bullies', are still fleshed out and likable. Hell, Bianca even helps Wednesday in the final fight. Idk man, this seems like a stretch.

"They cast a black bully!"

Meanwhile there's 4 other white bullies standing literally in the same shot

Omg dude I'm black and I wasn't thinking about ANY of this. Wednesday is hostile towards everyone. In fact, while watching, I was actually praising Burton for having a diverse cast and I loved Bianca and her queen bee status as Wednesdays only competition. And guess what ppl, Bianca beat her at fencing and was just as snarky as Wednesday. This is a reach for me. I loved this show. My humble opinion

Bianca had every reason to be antagonistic towards Wednesday. She was rude and cold and Xavier was still interested in her. Her insecurity came because of her powers and as she finally realized that, she reached out to Wednesday. In the end, she even saved Wednesday. Same with Lucas and the mayor. Lucas changed after leaving his friends behind and even the mayor while being corrupt, draw a line when murders were involved. The villains were all straight out evil.

Why can't people just enjoy the show and not tear it apart.

This is BS all the actors did an amazing job. They all should be very proud of their performances cause they were incredible. Hope they pick them up for more seasons not just one or 2 . Thank you Tim Burton and cast great work.

I'm not surprised that people created a problem where there really isn't one, because we can't enjoy anything without a scandal these days. People will always find something to be upset about.

the critics must not have seen entire season..Wednesday Addams in the show yes has Bianca as a rival in the beginningbut in the end learns to become her friend..Same with the mayors son... The show is about Wednesday growing up and learning that is the point of it

The whole cast did an amazing job on the show! Now a days with social media, people try to find fault with anything. The show is Tim’s portrayal of Wednesday, and it’s absolutely brilliant!

To put it simply..
"5 people on Twitter are reaching for an excuse to whine about nothing."
Yet, the 98% of everyone else who doesn't see it that way.. aren't the ones being talked about.

I don't really care if Tim Burton has lack of diversity in his films, I just want him to be true to his artistic style and feel the way it does rather than having forced and out of place diversity with no chemistry

The critics must have stopped watching about half way thru.

By the end of it Bianca is cool with Wednesday and you can tell they are going to be much closer next season. The roles being discussed here were more important than many of the others in the season and provided for some good character growth. Who cares where those characters started, it's where they were by the end of the season that matters. People here looking for problems that don't exist.

I love Bianca and Lucas in the series, especially Bianca who has the most soothing voice of the bunch. They have arc, they have depth. And in the end, Bianca seems to have become friends with Wednesday. And why can't black be antagonists? Other actors, regardless of color, would die to get that kind of role.

Bianca literally saved Wednesday’s life in the last episode and continuously tried to help people with her mums scam getting everyone out of the school when crackstone shows up, Lucas constantly tried to stop the others (I don’t remember their names) from bullying people and the paint prank

The black characters weren't the only antagonistic ones in the show. The sheriff, a couple of the background characters and the headmistress were pretty hostile towards her too.

I´m calling bullshit. Bianca and Lucas are mild antagonists at best and end up being friendly with the protagonist by the end having gone through an arc in which they are held to account, self-reflect, and grow. Now, if they were cookie cutter disposable villians, then maybe people would have a point. Instead, these characters are just as human and asshole-ish as the other characters. Besides, if you compare this to Wednesday, who is standoffish, rude, and flagrantly insulting, some might view her as being the newcomer antagonist! At the end of the day, this show is well-written, well-directed, and pretty effing diverse. I don´t really know what more people want?

Oh for crying out loud! The main bad guys were both white! This “criticism” was a reach
