Top 5 Fatal ways animal use to protect themselves

Out there in mother nature, it’s survival for the fittest. A prey or an animal that other animals feed on must always be on alert. To live another day, such animals must look out and listen for any signs of danger. To survive, they are gifted with different ways to defend themselves and keep away the predators. Although many of these defensive methods are just to scare off and give the predators more of a nuisance and not real danger, some ways are more fatal and downright lethal!

Exploding itself to Kill predators

The Malaysian ants have an unusual and unique self-defense mechanism. They live in colonies that consist of soldiers, worker ants, drones, and of course, the Queen. To protect the colony, the worker ants and soldiers will draw the predator away from the colony and once they are sure that the colony is safe, they explode and spread poison on the predator, eliminating it and dying for the cause, just like suicide bombers!

Emitting sticky and potent slime

When faced with danger, the hagfish discharges a potent slime that combines with water and becomes extremely sticky to the extend of choking the predators and other animals just by sticking to their throats and gills.

Number 3. Swarming on top of a predator and causing its’ death due to suffocation and overheating

The main predators of bees are hornets. They do not only feed on honey but also swarm the beehives and kill the bees. The eastern bee is , however, quite brutal and it deals with hornets much more efficiently. For instance, when hornets swarm a beehive, the eastern bee will allow it to enter and settle in the hive.

Number 2. Breaking own bones and using them as protective spines

Based on the fatal ways that we have already talked about, you may be now wondering what else in store do these other creatures have for us. Well, the next animal on our list is the hairy frog. When the hairy frog is in danger, it will break its own bones so hard that they stick out of the skin. The protruding bones act as claws and are also poisonous.

Number 1. Covering itself with its own poisonous feces/poop

The last one on our list may be the most fascinating and disgusting fact you have ever heard of. Covering itself with its own poop? How? Quite disgusting, right?
Think of a person covering himself with feces or throwing them at you to protect himself against you. So disgusting, right?
The potato beetle’s feces are not only disgusting but they are also poisonous and lethal.
