After this I'm done talking about the Gibson Wedding. I really didn't want to talk about this, but it's been bugging me. Like really bugging me. Like can't study and all my projects suck bugging me. So here it is, the Most awkward dance ever with Darcy. - oh and I miss Charlotte, she should be back this week.

I’m always fascinated by this episode because I actually get most of Darcy’s behavior during the wedding. He’s at a party where he only knows 2 people and he seems pretty introverted to me. So his stuck at a party where his best friend spends most of the night dancing and he doesn’t feel comfortable with strangers so he stays off to the side and watches (which btw sounds like exactly what Lizzie was doing but I digress). Then despite his best efforts he winds up catching the garter and having to dance (which he doesn’t enjoy doing) with a stranger in front of a large group of people watching and probably judging him. Yeah it’s unfortunate Lizzie overheard what he said but he and Bing were outside the wedding. How often do people say things in private that they wouldn’t actually say to other people and especially that person? My bet is most.

All i need is a Darcy-Reaction for videos like this. I mean, we know he saw the whole vlog, but i just wonder his reactions for some videos.

I find it so interesting that she is judging Darcy for standing away from the group, when she did EXACTLY the same thing. they are so alike, but Lizzie calls him a snob because he called her 'decent enough' Darcy really must have died when he watched these and realise she heard him. his life would have been a whole lot easier if he had thought about those words before they came out of his mouth!!

Darcy totally paused this video and just put his hands over his face for a while because "Shit, she HEARD that?!" Ah, the things we say when we're feeling uncomfortable and just trying to make our friends leave us alone for a little while. NOT MEANT FOR OUTSIDE EARS.

Awww. In this interpretation, it seems like Darcy is more nervous than actually snobbish

After starting to rewatching this series for a third time I realize that darcy saw this episode because we all know that he watches them all. And I just can't imagine what his reaction is, he would feel pretty guilty I know but the realization that she heard the words that he uttered only half heartedly and probably trying to persuade himself to not like this girl. It's just so uggggh

"I watched my steely-eyed mother march over and whisper something in the bride and groom's ears. ... So there I was, bouquet in hand and a bunch of relieved single women around me clapping. I noticed my mother in the crowd beyond. She was giving the bride two thumbs up."

"He looked for a moment at Elizabeth, till, catching her eye, he withdrew his own, and coldly said, 'She is tolerable; but not handsome enough to tempt ME.'

"She told the story, however, with great spirit among her friends; for she had a lively, playful disposition, which delighted in anything ridiculous."

"'But I can assure you, ' she added, 'that Lizzy does not lose much by not suiting HIS fancy.'"

Just trying to picture Darcy's reaction to watching this video... the look on Lizzie's face after the 'decent enough' line is so sad!

I NEED a follow-up vlog of Dacry's reactions to all this. It would be so perfect.

Iconic episode.
1) THE shirt
2) A tour de force by Ashley: giving exposition/crucial plot points *plus* convincingly/entertainingly playing 3 characters & *so* many emotions in 3 minutes(!) &
3) that real hurt at the “decent enough” 💔❤️‍🔥💔💘💔
If any viewers weren’t already on board after the 1st few episodes, this is the one where it’s hook-line-&-sinker, ride-or-die LBD devotion.
Yes, I’m watching for the 10 year anniversary/Look Back ☺️

Man, you can tell that really stung for her. :( I know that feel when you pre-reject someone because you already found out they don't like you!

But Lizzie, You already said it. "I dislike smiling. It contorts the face."3
That's why he couldn't force a smile.

The acting is so good. It's obvious that Lizzie was hurt by Darcy's comments, but she tried to hide her hurt with bravado, sharp wit and hatred toward Darcy. That characterization was spot-on for Lizzie. Really excellent.

When you imitate your mum, I nearly cry.

With laughter.

This totally reminds me of this time at a dance where there was a slow dance playing and I saw a guy looking lonely standing alone by the wall so I asked him to dance, and he said: "I dislike people."
