How A Ring Would Change Melo’s Legacy

Carmelo Anthony has an undeniable place in NBA history. However he is far from the superstar he was in his prime and remains a polarizing player. Despite having a resume that is comparable to some of the greats… he’s still missing one thing: an NBA Championship.

This season with the Lakers, he finally has his best opportunity to do so, but entering Year 19, would a ring really change the narrative around Melo’s career?

That Frank Ocean lyric - ‘she needs a ring like Carmelo’ would change for me but Melo is already an absolute legend and I hope he gets his championship.

6:21 that Melo shooting form throughout the years with different teams remained the same.

Personally I don’t it’ll change that dramatically. I mostly remember Melo as the killer he was in Denver and NY, as well as he’s barrage of 3s at the Olympic Games. But it’ll make the second half of his career look a lot better, since his time in Houston and OKC was probably the low point of his career. Hopefully he’ll be a great role player for the Lakers this season.

Getting a ring will keep him off those "best players to never win a ring" lists for all eternity. 😂

How would him being a 7th or 8th man off the bench in a championship team change his legacy? Hes already a legend and had an incredible peak but I dont see a ring in his current veteran position really changing all that much. If he won one as a first option in his hey day? Then that would have been huge. People are too obsessed with rings

Melo has one of the most nicest looking shooting form. His follow through and hand positions are very appealing to look at.

For one it was his relationship with phil not knicks that got him out. He didnt want to leave he wanted to compete. Secondly he was brought in to OKC to become a big 3 not a bench role. Rockets was a personal vendetta dantoni and the defensive coach brisbilik had with him. The blazers he wasnt going back after Billups trashed him when he was out the league.

His legacy is set in stone, a ring in the second half of his career would just be icing on the cake. Really hope he does

Melo was a legend a long time ago. A championship as a great role player would just be a cherry on top...a really good one nonetheless.

a chip will be a cherry on top of his basketball career cake.
I'm on the mend here, cuz I'm still bitter about his shenanigans in NYK (Linsanity sabotage).
They could've got to at least the ECF.
Lakers winning it all would be great for Westbeast and Melo.

He’s first ballot hall of fame without a ring don’t get more elite then that so getting a ring is more for his personal self journey.

It's not like he's going to be leading his team to a chip. He'll be coming off the bench. I'm sure it'll be really awesome for him personally to get a ring but at this point I don't see it really affecting people's opinions of him one way or another. He'll always be a killer to me ring or not.
