Karnataka is a very cultured place. The people are not foolish to fall for hindu-muslim jumla. For the most part there are more peaceful communities who are disturbed by such things. The bad economic management didn't help either.
Edit: when I say peaceful communities I mean both hindu and Muslim communities both who live together. Just goes to show how brainwashed your mind is when you only think of Muslims when peaceful community is mentioned.

1. Religious hate speech (majority people dont care about religion nowadays especially in south)
2. Youth unemployment (this time many are first time voters)
3. Poverty & Inflation (middle class people got affected more)

Even in 2024 lok sabha election these things will definitely affect BJP vote bank in majority states (except UP).

One of the important reasons which caused Karnataka to drift away from BJP is the proposal for merger of Nandini-Amul. I am surprised that very few media discussed about this. Nandini is one of the best dairy co-operatives in India. Moreover, it shares the market space with other states cordially. A large population of Karnataka People take pride in Nandini being its state diary co-operative. Messing up with such an industry will definitely sting back. Hope the following gov drops this idea.
