Three year-old laptop is like new to me. I tend to get a lot of miles out of them.

Also the convenience and user friendlyness of ubuntu, in my opinion, is very nice.
A small example is apparmor, it works out of the box.
In other distro's (for example Arch) you have to install a custom kernel from the AUR or even compile a custom kernel to enable the apparmor security inside the kernel.
Just saying that security related things are maybe a tiny bit easier within Ubuntu than other distro's (In my opinion).
Anyway, Arch is a very great distro, but some things I find a bit difficult and I admit that I don't have the patience to find out all the ins and outs of things I would like to have working.

which distro do you suggest to install on a dell xps 9300 2020? 18.04 LTS or 19.10?

The setting of this studio is great! The audio and video are fine. Well done, Jay! Now, about this 19.10, one word comes to mind: responsiveness. It is extremely responsive! I also agree with you that the yaru theme used here is very modern and professional. I’m already excited for 20.04! I have one question though: do you know whether Dropbox supports zfs or not?

I think the only issue between 64 and 32 bit is the 32 lib support not the kernel boot model. I still play many games made during the 32bit period and require the 32bit libs. Removing this support would be devastating for Linux gamer community.

The explanation about ZFS is confusing. As file system for data ZFS has been available since Ubuntu 16.04 and it has been released by Sun in 2005.
ZFS is a rock solid file system. I boot and run it on:
- my Ryzen 3 2200G with 16 GB with Ubuntu 19.10,
- my l5-2520M with 8 GB with Ubuntu Mate 19.10,
- my Pentium 4 HT with 1.25 GB with FreeBSD 12.

The memory it uses is minimal, all remarks about memory usage are caused by the L1ARC memory cache. On the above systems, I limited the L1ARC to 4 GB, 1.5 GB and 400MB. The advantage of the L1ARC is that programs and Virtual Machines (VM) run for 90-95% from memory instead of disk. My Linux VMs run for 95% from memory, resulting in instantaneous response times.

The support in Grub exists since 18.04. In Jan 2019 I moved an ext4 installation to a ZFS dataset/folder on a small ZFS partition, I did run update-grub and a few other commands and I boot since that time from ZFS. Only the installer is new in 19.10!
Advantages of ZFS are:
- stops all file corruption, I got many wma files corrupted due to frequent power fails and that stopped with ZFS.
- reliable support for all raid configurations
- built-in compression and encryption per dataset/folder.
- memory and SSD caching
- snapshots with response times of one second.
- Snapshot-based synchronization between systems (SSH) or to another drive (USB) considerably faster than rsync.
- Rollback of snapshots, even OS snapshots (I did rollback from 19.10 to 19.04 two weeks ago in a few seconds).

tweaks is not in settings becouse the devs of gnome do not want you to change the theme, the option is a part of the GTK framework ..

I use CUPERTINO desktop layout.
I notice global menu does not work perfectly.
Some software's menu bar setup on own bar.
I want menu bar works to global menu.

NB. Some Apps like Google Chrome, Brave Web Browser, VS Code, Intellij Idea IDE, VLC player, SM Player and LibreOffice work well global menu.
But all sofwares do not work global menu, here global menu show just app name.

I am thinking of switching to Ubuntu 19.10. I have done a little testing on a spare drive, using my Dell Latitude and it works great.
I'd rather use something that will get me away from Windows for good and something that I do not have to mess on with too much, like Arch, which has always been a favorite of mine, I also now don't want anything that is rolling release or could break with a reboot.
I think the problem is I cannot find a distro to stick with as I keep switching back to Windows 10.

Can it run steam and wine, I had problems with those two, after in-place upgrade from 19.0.4? It ended in kernel panic after reboot, I managed to fix, but steam no longer launches but still installs

Good Audio Jay, I was surprised that you took the stance you did on this point release of Ubuntu instead of LTS. Good for you, but this was great.
