You have truly levelled up SO MUCH! There are definitely more layers of complexity and elements in new drawings which takes a deeper understanding of all the information presented!

I love hearing the self dialogue! It's very validating to know that even great artists like yourself have doubts, as well as it being entertaining 😂

The new version is SO pretty!! I love how you incorporated different colors, rendered it more and just gave it more details and personality <33 Besides, even if some people like the old one better, art is partly subjective and if you like it then it's GOOD >:((

I love redrawing old art!! It really shows how much growth can be achieved in a short(ish) amount of time!!

I like the new version. She looks pretty when I saw her face like I wanna meet her so bad in first impression!!

I think a lot of times when redrawing old art, aside from improving technically it’s also obviously just gonna be different bc ur not drawing it w/ the same intention that the 1st drawing was made with & ur a different version of urself than u were at that time, & ppl can get hung up on that. But it’s clear as day that the new drawing shows huge improvements! The old one was also good & had its own character, but the new one has a much stronger color palette & is much more dynamic & expressive! So cool, I love seeing videos like this

I'm a sucker for a simple style (my best friend's drawings look more like your old one and I LOVE them), but the new one really shows off your deep understanding of shapes and colors, it's complex while still looking clean, it's sooo good

i love your process!! it seems so…real? idk, it makes me feel okay about my way of working. thank you for sharing <3
also the new ones are better, i think back then you masked any difficulties you were having with your style and did it pretty effectively, so regular viewers can’t really tell, they’re just like “holy shit, two cakes!” (idk if this reference makes any sense)
but any professional artist, especially the one working in animation, will see the improvement. keep it up!

9:21 so me!!!! i always freestyle and then fail things before looking up a reference lol its like i forget its an option. i love the color palette of this drawing though and all the fun shapes, ive gotten kind of good at rendering and anatomy so far but still struggle with shape language and exaggeration. your style is so pretty and its always a treat seeing it!

The new one is so awesome, both are really cool but the new one is such an improvement!

The new art is so much more expressive and tells a story about the character whilst the old art despite still being beautiful really is just “oh pretty”. Both are good and nice but the new art is so much more than that and that’s what makes it better than the old one.

They’re both great, for sure, and the new pose is certainly more interesting. I do think maybe you lost some of her intensity/attitude in the new version, but all the extra flourishes and rendering added are nice. As always, your stuff is top notch.

Your drawings are great! I've been doing that with some of my old drawings from the 70s.... It's fun!

I really like how you're talking through your thought process for why you're doing things, not enough artists do this sort of thing.

Hi Jackie! Your art skills have improved for sure, and the new drawing is definitely 100% a better one - but the raw personality in the old one is striking and I feel your skills have tightened all that up and maybe constricted it a little? You should have a play with using your newly developed skills to concentrate on a slightly "looser" redraw of an old drawing - and I think you will find yourself moving forward by leaps and bounds. I love both drawings (really) but the first one would make me pause and wonder who did it. This is not a commentary on your skill or lack thereof, please don't think it is, you are a lovely artist and the work you have put in shows. It's about taking your honed skills and finding your old loose rawness and then merging the two. I bet you will be pleased with what you produce.

I just want to say your videos have helped me tremendously. The things you mention with shapes and such, I never thought about before but I'm learning to think that way. And your redraw definitely looks better.
