The unfortunate thing about love in romantic relationships is control and expectation.
My last situation taught me to not have expectations and to rely on someone else for validation or at least the behaviors I had come to expect were validations.
All I wanted was to be seen and treated with respect.
It wasn’t to control him or have him tell me how great I was or even that he loves me. I just wanted an experience where I could feel comfortable and be myself which to me is love.
In writing this I still feel disappointed and hurt but what I want the person who takes the time to read this to know - it is not your fault and you didn’t do anything wrong. And on the flip side it’s not their fault and they didn’t do anything wrong.
If you are a great person and they left you, it’s going to be okay. They are okay too. They just did something they felt they needed to do to take care of themselves.
It’s not about someone else’s regret, you don’t have any regrets.
If you want to call them or send them a text let it be about you.
Let it come from your most vulnerable place and share your heart.
It’s not about appearing to be strong or in control. It’s about showing you a true and authentic and don’t expect anything.
Then you are free.
You did EVWRYTHING you could possibly and YOU showed up and showed them who you truly are.
That way there will be no narrative in their minds saying you mistreated them or you got mad or you cheated or you left or whatever.
The universe will reward you with peace and healing. And keep being your beautiful self.
Just take it slower next time and find someone who deserves that love you have inside.
