raid 0 is for those that like to live on the edge.

I would recommend getting a UPS, They're good for real power outages. Gives enough time to save what you're doing and safely shut down.

Oh wow... So, In simulating a system failure you cause a system failure?
Ouch.
Well, you are committed to your craft. No one can accuse you of faking your shots.

"The case behind me ruined 400GBs of information"
Not, not the case lost it, you did. You didn't backup properly. IN A RAID 0 SSD ARRAY, for gods sake. That was bound to happen.

RAID 0 is like juggling burning kittens inside a fuel storage.

Don't do it.

Ouch! Well at least you have an epic looking video sequence. Usually storage failures don't look so awesome.

Had an IT instructor who had a ssd for class fail on him. He didn't back it up even though him and other instructors always tell us to backup. It's pretty important for these classes too since we are using vm's, and getting back to where we are could be a pain and lots of work.

This is pretty much why I will never do a RAID 0 array.

Damn sorry you lost all the source data mate ;(

Perhaps bios or OS set up raid doesn't provide that protection of on board battery. A dedicated raid card in one of the pci slots is supposed to protect the current cache via battery?

What exactly does a power outage do to a RAID 0 array? I would have expected a few active files that were being read/written to become corrupted, not the entire drive's contents. Would it have been relatively safe if it was in a RAID 1 configuration?

my SSD died recently... absolutely sucks losing data. Definitely going to be more mindful of backups now. Which lens did you pair with the G7 for this?

A few days after watching this video, I've had a realization. I've been using RAID0 (controlled by the motherboard) to store around 400GB of my personal stuff, including travel photos and videos. I've experienced _numerous_ sudden power cutoffs over a period of 5 years. I guess I'm quite lucky that the array didn't ever break. Fuck this shit, moving my data to a new archival hard drive.

Can you go over some of your preferences for backing up files? Like do you use some software? Or do you just copy and paste your files you want to an ext.

strange thing, linus got his raid busted too just like i dont know, a few weeks or a month ago. but luckily, he can recover it totally with the help from a backup company

3:00 - That's strange. I had power failures on my computer with two HDDs in RAID 0 and I never lost anything in that RAID array.
