“I Was Given a Man’s Dose of Testosterone” #woman

Показать описание
Testosterone plays a crucial role in regulating libido in both men and women, but the effects of too much or too little testosterone can vary significantly depending on the dose and the individual. For a woman, using a man’s dose of testosterone could cause a dramatic spike in libido, as her body is not accustomed to such high levels. While this might seem like a solution to low libido, excessive testosterone can lead to unwanted side effects, such as acne, hair growth in unusual places, voice deepening, or mood swings.

On the other hand, testosterone deficiency in women often goes undiagnosed because it’s not commonly tested during routine medical evaluations. Symptoms of low testosterone—such as reduced libido, fatigue, and difficulty maintaining muscle mass—can overlap with other conditions like depression, stress, or menopause, leading to misdiagnosis. Since testosterone is essential for overall energy, sexual health, and even bone density, untreated deficiency can significantly impact a woman’s quality of life.

Testosterone and Estrogen is produced by every gender! We just have different quantities

My mom actually had low testosterone after menopause and was depressed. They got her on testosterone and it was like night and day. She says she doesn’t care what the long term side effects are because she wasn’t enjoying life at all until she got on this testosterone

I tried to discuss testosterone with my doctor and she flat out told me that it was *ONLY* for men. But she did give me HRT and it is wonderful. My brainfog is nearly gone, I can read books again, and Wonder of Wonders, I haven't had a full blown migraine for

It reminds me of when I had a friend who transitioned from female to male and then back again and she said that when she went on T, her libido increased a TON, she couldn’t cry, and she was more irritable and aggressive. It’s interesting how a lot of what we consider personality traits are heavily influenced by brain chemistry.

As someone who’s taken testosterone as HRT:
God the first few months you’re absolutely FERAL.

Once i went on HRT it was incredible. My general anxiety was basically gone. Not having a monthly cycle is great too lol

Oh gosh! I accidentally took too high a dose for I don't know how many weeks. I started taking the steps three at a time and started mentally undressing strangers in the grocery store. I was horrified when I figured out the problem and went to see my doctor. He had an apprentice of some kind with him when I told him. They looked at each other, and my doc said, "Sounds like testosterone to me ...." Symptoms went away pretty fast when he changed my med 😆🤣😂😆

I wonder if that includes PCOS since our testosterone levels can be high too

I can tell you that some people take low dosage of testosterone to transition but slowly, and this is the worst thing you can possibly do. You have all the dissadvantages of having high testosterone woman with pcos would have, but at thesame time, the ones of men with low testosterone. I ruined my body pretty badly because the endocrinologists are not informed. I choose the best ones and payed a lot, but it didnt matter. I wish it was a more normalised topic and not a political or ideological one as itis often viewed

I have PCOS and I as a woman naturally produce male levels of testosterone so I take a low dose blocker. But yeah my "drive" can be an issue at times.

“Babe, you don’t have a headache, you just need some more testosterone ;)”

I am a male doing HR because of a pituitary tumor. I was offered Androgel for testosterone therapy. Kind of like the female replacement here. I chose injections of testosterone cypionate weekly instead. Why? Because some topical replacements can rub off onto others, including pets. I also find a weekly shot, compared to a daily cream easier. But, that's just me

Can confirm that libido goes through the roof when on test. I did some amateur bodybuilding 7 years ago and tried some for a 6-8 weeks (can't remember). All I do remember is that my confidence went up, my anxiety down, and it was the only time in my life I cursed my bi/pansexual nature. Every person looked like fair game. XD it was an experience for sure. Tho, I would NOT recommend taking testosterone for such petty reasons, not as a woman nor as a man.

When I was 15 I had a surgery to remove a pilonidal cyst (basically a hair that grows into my flesh near my tailbone, it was very painful when inflamed) and during the surgery the Doctor was talking to the other surgeons and said "did you know these are more common to occur in men? So when they occur in women it means they have a high level of testosterone, which also means they're h*rny all the time" it was very uncomfortable lol

Lack of medical research for effects on women? Say it isn't so! 😂

Learned something new today! I didn't know some women need a testosterone supplement! That's interesting. Is it the same for some Men with Estrogen?

Better to take testosterone at tested natural levels & sort all those issues with one natural substance, than to take a raft of other medications & side effects to deal with all the individual issues. Testosterone also benefits bone density & helps against sarcopenia.

I once did a hormone test. I was told my testoserone levels were very low. I said, "well I am a woman so yeah"
And then I was told "it is very low for a woman"
I was like is that an issue. And the doctor was like ehhhh, so either way.
We never discussed it again.
I am actually curious what my hormone levels are like now.
