Japan safest country in the world? Japan lost and found. Japan is one of the safest countries in the world to travel to or to live in. Japan has a population of 127 million people and the total land area is about the same as the state of California in the US or Germany in Europe, yet for its size and population density, Japan is the safest country in the world. In this video, I document an incident where I forgot my favorite Columbia jacket on the train and how the Japanese train lost and found system works.

"Sasuga, Japan!" means something to the effect of "as we would have expected from classic Japan."

Hey Mike--great vid again! Just wanted to share a quick anecdote in response. We recently had a Japanese university group come to study for two weeks and they had more lost items in those two weeks than we normally have in a year. 3 phones, a wallet, and a fanny pack with passport and wallet were all left on TheBus. AND ALL OF THEM WERE TURNED IN!!! Unbelievable!
