STOP LOSING FISH W/ THIS RIG! Fishing Rig Tutorial (Inshore/Pier/Surf Fishing)

I have seen SO many people using this rig while pier fishing and I just don’t understand why! In my opinion, this is one of the worst rigs you can use; it pretty much guarantees that you are going to lose your hook! DON’T MAKE THAT MISTAKE! In this video, I am going to show you how to tie the same rig but with monofilament line instead so it will be much stronger, much better, and MUCH cheaper.

Hey skipper! Thanks man. First time I saw your video a year ago. I started to make my own knots. No regrets. My strike has increased so much. I do not loose near as much gear as before.
Because of your video with your dad in the T knot. I was able to use that setsup to catch a 6ft 3in sturgeon. She weighed around 126 lbs and I was using 60lbs braid.

For the metal rig, you’re supposed to use snell hooks on them. That is the first time I have seen someone clip the hook directly onto the rig. I did lose one of those metal rigs after it caught something while I was fishing off a pier. Today, I tried out a dropper loop rig and I found it more effective than the metal rig. I’m definitely taking that metal rig out of my tackle box and using a dropper loop rig from now on.

Laziness is my answer. Since I just learned how to tie it from you, then I no longer have any reasons to be lazy. Thanks for the tip! Will return metal rig to Amazon.

I feel you and I use both rigs ...lost too many toothy fish with drop loop rigs thats usually when I start throwing my metal rig.

I agree with you skipper...I started with those when I first started fishing again years ago...I've noticed fewer bites than everyone else with the metals. Then I started learning many knots with your tutorials and many others...and huge difference. A true fisherman has to learn knots and make their own rigs. I felt embarrassed using that crap.

I'm rather new to fishing - this year 2019 - I have used this rig to no avail! I am going to make this rig from now on. I'll be fishing Monday from Ft. Smallwood or Downs Park hope to catch something good. Thanks for all your videos. I'm learning a lot.

First time surf fishing this past September and I found a video similar to this and tied my own rigs instead of buying the premade ones. Pre-tied several of them and use a (extra heavy duty) snap swivel on my braided main line. Tie a figure 8 knot at the top and bottom instead of a surgeons knot. Snap the top loop into the snap swivel and you’re good to go. Makes it easier when needing to change a rig for whatever reason as well.

Caught my first saltwater fish on this setup, a slot redfish. Will be tying more of these in the future for my next surf fishing trip.

Just came back from deep sea fishing in Panama City Beach, Fl. Had a blast. Tied the same rig ... no metal wires to complicate things. We’ve caught a lot of fish with this rigs including sharks and grouper. I definitely do not want to harm a fish - shark and grouper by leaving those metal rigs.

I’ve been making doubles like that for over 40 years, sans beads!
I’ve caught many doubles with the hand made rig too. I’ll have to try some beads!

refreshing to see how passionately you present your case! I fish about 98%of the time on a pier in a resort area and I see them danged metal rigs all the time. My attitude equals yours. I have converted hundreds of fishers to the Fishing Mortician rig. the mortician rig is an antidote which cures all. it's simple elegance, cheaply made, hardy, and
handy. Even the snoods with their loop knot serve well to repair rigs. Keep up the attitude and Tight Lines.

I recently got into fishing and bought some similar to these, good for the beginner that doesn’t want to struggle but it can add up in cost and also learned about the fish thought process when eating bait.
As my interest grows I find it important to learn how to set up your line to have the best results and experience, that’s how I came across you and other people who share the wisdom of fishing, thanks from Houston tx

I've never used those rigs, always tied my own because sometimes you need to adjust your droppers to find fish at different levels in the water column and also I just find them stupid, like why would I buy that when I can tie my own custom rig in under 2 minutes, love the content man, keep it up, going out on a jetty in a few days to target some grouper, hell yeah

I like how you’re ethical about it in terms of caring for environment and the fish
