Always felt it was a shame Sauron's weapon lacked a name, and that he didn't feel compelled to use his own immense smithcraft to forge terrible weapons for his (admittedly disposable) Orcs. It's always shown to be important that Sauron was once a Maiar of Aule, when discussing his forging of the One Ring, or education of the Eregion elves in ringcraft, but even after he gains tangential control of Moria, and basically the only source of mithril left in Middle Earth, and hoards it to himself, he just seems SO swept up in reclaiming the lost Ring, and being an armchair general Lord, he just doesn't seem to be capable of using his incredible skill to even further pad out his victory.

Once I knew the whole history, I thought it would have been amusing if Elrond had claimed Glamdring. He is the closest descendant of King Turgon whose sword it was. (Elrond is Turgon's great-grandson. The other choice would be Aragorn, but there would be about 30 more "great"s in there.) But I don't know if Tolkien had decided that when he wrote The Hobbit.

Honourable mention for the dwarfs.
Durin’s axe and the red axe of Dain II Ironfoot

Great job, very interesting videos. :) If you decide to make a part 2 for this, I'd love to hear about famous weapons from the other ages.

Although the fate of Grond is not explicitly stated, it's clearly not going to have survived. Yes, it broke the gates of Minas Tirith, but the trolls and orcs that manned it would have been killed off by the Army of the Dead and/or the City defenders. So it was probably abandoned right there in front of the broken gates of Minas Tirith, which means the Gondoreans would have destroyed it in due course.

Tolkien returned to the theme of peoples/races uniting again and again. The story of Anduril shows this forged by the dwarves (who could not have wielded a greatsword), wielded by men, broken by the dark powers reforged by the high elves and then given to a descendent of Numenor.

To quote Elrond from Return of the King "Anduril, Flame of the West reforged from the shards of Narsil." I hope that I got that right but thes next few quotes are pulled from "The Hobbit"(1977) cartoon movie when Bilbo gave his sword it's name "Now I will give you a name and I shall call you Sting!" these next bit is from the same movie but the Elrond gave Ocrist and Glamdring different names while apprasing the swords after a small feast with the dwarves "They were made for the Goblin Wars! This sword Throin the ruins name 'Ocrist the Goblin Cleaver'." then he would look at Gandalf after asking about the sword Elrond read the ruins and say "Glamdring the Foe Hammer." but I would guess that the Goblins gave the names "Beater" and "Biter" for Glamdring and Orcrist.

Elendil should also wearing the Elendilmir, a head piece. I presume it light would have hurt orcs. At Gladden Fields, Isildur was wearing it. When told to flee, he put on the one ring, the Elendilmir blazed, Isildur put on a hood and was seen no more by mortal men.
I suspect that elendil wearing it in the face off again Sauron somewhat negated the power of fear the Sauron could instill, allow him and Gilgalad to face Sauron.
Even more powerful was Earendil wearing the Silmaril. I believe that was the reason he was immune to a dragons power to mesmerize, allowing him to face Ancalagon

This channel needs more subscribers and likers. The quality of the videos are top notch and the voice over narrator deserves more recognition. Keep it up! 👌🤌👏

I hope Durin's Axe will be in Return to Moria as a usable weapon.

Really enjoying the content you put out and hoping to see a weapons of the first age at some point. Your list is pretty much complete as far as I can remember, although there is also Durin's Axe that was mentioned as being in Khazad Dum and being found by the group of dwarves led by Balin but was then lost again when they were all slain. Other than that I cannot think of any other significant weapon that was used in the 2nd and 3rd ages

One of the images used while talking about Orcrist and Glamdring was actually Ned Stark with Ice in the Godswood, done by Michael Komarck.

Hmmm Nenya also a powerful weapon in form of a ring. At least Galadriel successfully counter many attacks with it.

What of Merry's sword "Ooomp"?
Whomever it is tossed to will say "Ooomp". Many had no fear whatsoever of this sword. Still, it was great.
