Longhorn Fan here….I’m about 50/50 on if Rankings matter. They matter for playoffs, they matter for debate and school pride hence Alabama fans upset at your rankings of them. I don’t think they matter to prove who’s better. Some years it’s clear who’s better, sometimes it’s several teams that can make their case. I think this year the top 6 or 7 teams haven’t truly been tested.
