PLUNGE-CUT SAW VS CIRCULAR SAW
Nowadays many circular saws are more and more similar with plunge-cut saws. Here are things that plunge-cut saw are very good:
- You can start sawing also from the center (plunge) of the material.
- It is designed to use with guide rail. With guide rail you get really straight cuts. Plunge cut saw can be adjust to fit perfectly in the guide rail. If it loose at first, you can twist two green tightening knobs with your fingers, it gets tighter and finally there is no empty space/tolerance between the track and the plunge cut saw. Guide rail has also splinter guard (colour: transparent) that makes cut splinter free for the left side of the machine. It is good to know that for very long cuts you can attach two guide rails together!
- In plunge-cut saw there is splinter guard (colour: green). Results more splinter free cut on the right side of the machine!
- Blade is covered! More dust free operation!
- Blade is spring loaded. When saw is not in use, it automatically pulls the blade back inside the machine! More safety!
- Separate kickback stop is used when doing plunge cut. Kickback stop, FS-RSP (colour: black) is locked on the guide rail just behing the machine, and it don't let the machine go up or back from the rail. More safety!
- Generally it is more accurate. You can also adjust it more precisely.

SAFETY
- Read user manual before first use!
- You should read about circular saw kickback. What it is, and what can cause it?
- Wear protective goggles!
- Wear ear protection!
- Wear dust mask!
- Use kickback stop FS-RSP when doing plunge cut!

TROUBLESHOOTING
- If machine is not starting. Check that the power cord twist lock is twisted enough!
- If machine is not starting after many years of heavy use. Check motor's carbon brushes, and change them in Festool service!

MY REVIEW
- First impression? Seems to be very good quality product!
- Everything in this machine and system seems to be very well thinked.
- With Festool Guide Rail FS 1400/2 this saw gives you precision cut!
- Little bit heavier machine is not an issue, when you are using it with guide rail, it just slide on it.
- If you don't need maximum 75 mm cutting dept, you may want to choose smaller model like Festool TS 55 or Festool TSC 55 (cordless).
- Good warranty!
- Made in Germany!

OVERALL SCORE
- 95% (100% is the maximum).
- Do I recommend this product? YES!
