I was reading Halo First Strike and on like the first page it says that while on the Longsword, Chief rubs the cut on his neck where he was almost infected by the Flood. And I was like "IM SORRY, WHAT!" And immediately googled and watched a video about it 😂

I remember this from when I was reading Halo: The Flood and it was surprising and scary. Awesome book! The book really fleshes out the events of Halo: CE and adds different perspectives like from marines and the Covenant.

The Flood is so terrifying, a nearly unstoppable force. We desperately need a survival horror game from a regular UNSC soldiers perspective. Imagine a game being one of the human prisoners on High Charity during the Great Schism. Instead of being rescued by the Chief, an explosion from Brutes fighting Elites blows open your cell. You play as a human sneaking around High Charity, trying to avoid the Covenant civil war and find a way off the mega structure. Then you see the In Amber Clad, and get hopeful for a rescue, only to see the pelicans leaving the ship to crash and offload Flood. Now, not only are you a weak, tiny human fighting and hiding from Brutes and Elites, but the Flood is making the already Chaotic High Charity into a three-way battle. Then, when you think things can't get any worse, Truth leaves in the Forrunner ship, killing all power to High Charity. Now you're creeping through the pitch darkness, and as you creep closer to the hangars, the chaotic sounds of battle get quiet. You can't see in the darkness, but you can hear things slithering around you and the occasional spine chilling shriek of infected. I may have to write this book lmao
