Tiran's Bass lines on "Captain and Me" album are a mean every song on the album. Listen with headphones and you will know. And for Bass players, this album is a Bass Master class in itself. Is there an Emmy award for Bass lines?

I am from UK but lived in the US for a while in the 70s and loved the Doobies then and they are even better now. But for all the focus on Tom and Pat, John McFee is the standout for me. He is an incredible musician.

I am British, but the Doobies have been my go to band when I am depressed and can't see my way forward. I have been listening to them since I was 18, I am now a 62 year old grandmother and I am still listening.

It's good to hear props given to Tiran Porter and to the departed drummers.

3.30.... fantastic to hear Pat's acknowledgement of Tiran's contributions. Totally underrated yet one of the most authentic, melodic and skillful bass players

In 1977 we finally got the doobies to Florence Alabama. On the way to the show we found out Tommy would not be there and Michael Macdonald was fiiling in. All of us were saying, Mike WHO!

Just what the music was. It got better than they knew. I miss Porter. The best bass player period. Being a drummer I got my bass player to watch, listen listen to him. It made him so good, he got poached. He came back. Had to slow down though. Definitely made us better. Thank you guys. Rock on!!

At 16:32, Tom is saying that the best songs just write themselves.
But I prefer songs that musician artists really do seem to mean, in a profound and powerful way, like maybe Sammy Hagar, (not to name drop), but just saying, because you can tell that he really means what he's singing.
Like he's talking from experience.

I want to comment that I had just joined the Marine Corps and heard on the radio "What a fool believes". Holy shit! The song touched very deep feelings in me. I am a combat veteran in Desert Storm and in moments of great tension the music of Doobie Brothers always brought peace to my spirit. I want to congratulate the band and very especially Patrick Simmons, a great guitarist.

I have their demo album, Introducing the Doobie Brothers recorded in 1970. I hear it’s rare, songs include by yourself, coke can changes, blue jay, make it easy, runaround ways, etc. It’s on pickwick label

This band is legendary, see them if you can. The new album is great. Incredible musicians, fanning the flames of Rock-N-Roll for decades. The Doobie Brothers are essential listening. I only wish that they played either 'Echoes Of Love' or 'I Can Read Your Mind' during the current live Tour.

You saved me...I was at the edge and your music brought me back.
I am still waiting for my book and package. Irks me that everyone else has gotten theirs, but the Fan Club Members have all shared their opinions of it.
It's all about the music...

Speaking of the Stones and opening acts...it was either '69 or '70 that the Stones played in Ft. Collins Colorado at a relatively small college basketball arena and the opening act was some guy that most of the audience had never heard of at the time...B.B. King, LOL.
