Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE), the parent company of Hyundai Heavy Industries, has signed the contract today 27 June 2022 for the Offshore Patrol Vessel Acquisition Project.
This was signed in DND's office in Quezon City in the presence of Defense Sec. Delfin Lorenzana and officials from the Philippine Navy and KSOE Vice Chairman Ga Sam-hyeon.
This confirms the selection of HHI through KSOE, using a derivative of the HDP-1500 Neo OPV design.
The CGI below shows slight differences on the previous CGI of the ship, which is now far longer, sports a 76mm gun instead of 40/57mm gun, has 2D radar only, and other PN-specific features.
Also, the specs according to the report shows that it is larger than the original HDP-1500 Neo design, with a displacement of 2400 tons, a length of 94.4 meters, a width of 14.3 meters, a maximum speed of 22 knots, and a cruising speed of 15 knots, and a range of 5,500 nautical miles.
