Statistics Terminology and Definitions| Statistics Tutorial | MarinStatsLectures

This statistics video introduces some of the terminology used in statistics. While we don't want to get distracted by "technical lingo", it is important that we are familiar with some of the words that are often used when introducing things in statistics.

Just like any other discipline, statistics has some terms that are used, which have very specific meanings within statistics. It is important that you are able to use some of these terms and able to "speak the same language" when reading about statistics, or consulting with a statistician.

Let me get this straight: Internal validity checks whether you’ve controlled for all the right variables so you can say your conclusions are valid for all sub samples within your sample and external validity checks whether there exist variables you did not control for that would prevent your sample’s conclusions to be generalized to other populations?
