Used Car Review: Mk7 Ford Fiesta

The Ford Fiesta is one of the most popular cars in the UK, so it's no surprise it also makes an excellent used buy. In this CarGurus used car review Chris Knapman explains just what makes the Mk7 Fiesta so good, and provides a few handy hints if you're in the market for one.

Written review:

Pros
Comfortable and entertaining drive
Excellent Ecoboost engines
Low fuel and insurance bills

Cons
Not quite as reliable as a Hyundai i20
Underpowered entry-level 1.25-litre engine
So-so build quality

The CarGurus verdict
There’s a good reason the Fiesta has proven so popular over the years: it’s an excellent small car that’ll keep both your head and your heart happy. Not only is it spacious enough to serve as a town-friendly family car, but it’s supple and quiet enough to be well-suited to longer journeys, too. And because there are simply so many Fiestas out there, you shouldn’t have a hard time finding a good example in the right specification for you.

Automatic and diesel versions might have their reliability foibles, but on the whole the Fiesta makes a great used buy, and should prove both cheap to run and satisfying to own.

but 1.0 Eco boost timing belt is basically 12 hour engine rebuild rather than belt change tell the truth

This is more like an advert than a review. No common faults mentioned, like the 1.0 eco boost manifolds cracking, exhaust heatshields falling apart and vibrating after 50k miles, thermostats leaking prematurely, water ingress in boot on over 30% of existing cars, they did mention the radio issue but only slightly when that is a real major problem and can not be resolved.
Look elsewhere for proper buying advice.

For anyone looking to buy a Mk7 Fiesta in 2024. Never ever buy an EcoBoost, it’s going to be a huge headache. 1.25, 1.4, 1.6 Zetec/Duratec and the Diesels are the way to go.

In my experience, ford wheels are poor and seriously over priced. Officials are 750 for the set without tyres. Aftermarkets are around 7-750 with tyres.
