You know how it is. It's drilled into our heads that unless we look like glowy, airbrushed perfection - WITHOUT makeup - as well as with, then there's something wrong with us. We're just ugly without makeup I guess. Oh wait - no, we're just HUMAN. No one is actually flawless in real life. Its a fact of nature. We have skin texture, dark circles, acne, fine lines - and not only is that OK, its beautiful!

I feel like so much of being considered "pretty without makeup" is about just having "good" skin. This realization really messed with my mind as someone with acne, I had felt, for significant portions of my life, that I'd never be pretty as long as I still had acne.

Let's normalize not wearing makeup in public all the time.

I’m a man and you’re doing good work Steph by encouraging women to be their natural selves and not feel ashamed of it. A lot of men want their spouses to not feel insecure and love themselves the way that we love them and you’re helping a lot of women see that. Keep up the good work!😊😊

I used to tell myself “you’re allowed to look ugly” until I stopped worrying about whether or not I looked ugly. I don’t think I ever looked ugly, or that ugly is a real thing when it comes to people, but it was helpful to give myself permission to just exist as I naturally am. The fear was that someone else would see me and think I’m ugly. But I gradually realised that’s not my problem and does not impact my life in any way.

When I was in high school, I decided to stop wearing makeup. It lasted 2 days because on the second day, someone asked me why I was letting myself go. It made me feel terrible because I had started to feel ok about my face and skin, and for someone to say that shattered that tiny bit of confidence I was starting to have. I wore makeup until I was 23 and started to feel comfortable again. It’s all society

We need to talk about how male celebrities can go out frumpy and are considered "down to earth" and "not letting fame affect their fashion sense" but if a female celebrity dares to step out in comfy clothes with a bare face they're "unrecognizable". It gets very frustrating to see the double standard. When can we exist without having to be put together all the time. It is exhausting. I will say that male celebrities might be shamed too but I personally have not seen it.

Sometimes I wish makeup didn't exist.. so we could all just live looking as we are. See real faces. I stopped wearing makeup after I had my daughter 6 years ago. Realized idgaf what people think of my appearance. This is me, you don't like it? I don't care 😊

Some men out there really feel personally insulted when a woman "dares" to be ugly.

You know what's interesting. Men do not wear makeup, we are used to seeing them everywhere without it (in advertising, movies, and even more on the streets). They think they're beautiful and so do we. But at the same time, makeup is so imposed on women that they simply do not perceive it without it. We need the same normalization of natural beauty, different types of appearance of women.

I find that as you get older makeup can actually make you look older. Do what you want to do. If you want to wear makeup wear it. If you don't, then don't.

I know I get treated differently by people in my life when I wear makeup vs. my bare face, and that makes me so sad.

The problem is that people aren't wearing makeup to enhance their features anymore, they're actually wearing a mask of makeup to completely change their face. Like even your bone structure and the shape of your nose can be changed with makeup. It's gotten to the point where people are putting on a costume everyday like you would on Halloween.

I think another big problem is that everyone can have a bad photo. The lightening isn’t right or it captures you making a goofy face. That doesn’t mean you’re ugly though. Instagram models and photo studios only choose the best photos. Not one with your eyes half closed. Plus specific lighting can enhance makeup or if it’s too heavy be unflattering. But that doesn’t make the person ugly. Photos are different from seeing a person in real life. There are so many factors that contribute to having that perfect photo. But for anyone who is reading this just remember you are perfect the way you are with or without makeup. Bad photo or good photo.

The pandemic did wonders for my normalization of my "natural" face. I basically went like 2 years without makeup and now I'm so used to my face. Post-pandemic, I decided to ditch foundation altogether and now putting on more than mascara, blush and concealer makes me feel overly made up. It's all what you get used to.

From the ages of 12 clear up till I was 31 I wore makeup EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. After I got married, my husband asked why I always felt the need to put makeup on bc he loved me without, too. I explained it was bc of my insecurities. He's helped me overcome those. I'm proud to say I'm 41 and I rarely wear makeup now. Maybe 4× a year. It took a whole lot to get here but I'm so proud of myself.

As someone who barely wears makeup (from lack of skills in that department😂) I'll never forget the day I went somewhere to hand in a resume and the woman I gave it to took me aside and said, "You'd have a higher chance of getting hired if you wore makeup. It makes you look more professional."

As a 16 year old, these beauty standards nowadays can really destroy your confidence. I thank you for representing the reality on social media and hope that your videos bring back some realness to people's minds...
Going through puberty, you sometimes can't control the way you feel about yourself, and that's something I hate.
Thank you for being real.

"You look completely different without makeup" does NOT necessarily mean "you look bad without it". Many look BETTER without it.
