Thumbnail: "It's not leetcode."

Everyone in the video: "So yeah I did the classic leetcode problems..."

SW Engineering Interview: you have 2 minutes to build a rocket that can fly to the furthest galaxy via blackholes while spending the least amount of fuel and oxygen for the passengers
Job: change the colour of the background of VS Code.

The easiest and fastest way to get into these big companies (or any company) is always connections. If you weren't aware of it, you'd be surprise how thick the iceberg of connections is when you look inside a company. So reach out to people you know that may or may not have an opportunity lying for you

You bring your own keyboard in. Alex brings his own monitor in. You aren't the same.

I am close to finishing my Associate degree from a local tech school in software dev. This video reminds me so much of the resilience mentorship I had with Microsoft when I started. It's almost nostalgic, and heartwarming to see the whole company embraces the growth mindset they were teaching. The imposter syndrome is hitting hard as I start my job search and get interview experience - I really needed this reminder. ♥ Changing careers is hard!

I could never land a job like this, but I figured all one had to do was tell'em you hate consumer choice, love Bing, the Cloud and want to inject them into every facet of Windows. Maybe toss in that you've always wanted to make Teams a bootable OS.

I've been in the tech industry as software engineer for 20+ years. Anyone that asks leetcode is lazy and doesn't know how to find good engineers. In the past, when I interview people, I focus on problem solving. I give them an example of the type of problems they will be asked to solve and the candidate to talk through it.

Great and candid tips! I can't stress the importance of networking to land a role at Microsoft - it's probably the most effective unofficial way to get in.

that's exactly what the companies want, you to have little excuse to leave and to love the company. Best believe though that when the numbers don't add up they will lay you off in a jiffy.
