In the 50's my Dad worked a modest job, Mom stayed at home and raised the kids, and they lived a nice middle class lifestyle including owning a home. Nowadays both I and my partner works and can barely afford to make ends meet. Soon the kids and family dog will need to work to keep this household going. It's the destruction of the American dream right before our eyes.

Alot of my life I shopped yard sales and even better, auctions of many sorts. Sure bought some things new, but I had alot more stuff to use when needed or just enjoy using/ having because I didn't have to be it's first owner, saved so much. Dimes on the Dollars was a common theme for the amount spent on whatever.

I wear 2 rings.. one is a $300 wedding ring, the other is my passed away dads that my Mom gave him.. and buy clothes from Costco. Back in the day $150 jeans were the norm.. not anymore.

Diamonds are as common as rock salt. They can be made in factories. Don't fall for a sales pitch.

Even prices in fbmarketplace are falling. Now, the time to buy items that have true value. Tools, home preservation equipment, greenhouses ... buy a teenager snowblower, heavy duty boots, send them out to start a side hustle come Winter.

Picked up a1991 Nissan Sentra, been a bit cosmetics on the outside but everything works it's been serviced new cat, heater core, overhead cam rebuild etc . 20 oz of silver from a tow yard cost me a bit over $300 since I've been stacking for over ten years

Yeah one thing I learned dont invest your family time chasing money trying to improve your future, while your kids only have up to 18 years with you.

I think some of this is less ego and more about enjoyment. That first sports car, excellent suit or jewelry piece. Problem is the credit culture.

Steve Forbes admitted this week on Larry Kudlow's show that we are in a recession .

None of those things are money. All of them are consumption items. When times are inflationary there is more currency sloshing around in the system and these things are bid up. But when people get worried and want to save money, gold goes up and then silver follows because gold is money and everything else is not.
