Last year, I had a problem with earwigs chewing leaves. I dusted the leaves with diatomaceous earth and that helped cut down on the chewing activity. Neem oil works; but, make sure it is 100% cold pressed oil. Gary from The Rusted Garden posted a video recently on how to mix up the neem oil with the soap and water.

Pruning is essential for sure... My big pepper plants came from the nursery and all had some pruning done so they're getting bushy. My _late_ seedlings aren't quite ready yet but I *won't* be topping these. I have 5-6 each of four varieties and I plan on growing them small, in 2.5-gallon pots= "a sea of peppers" that I will collect seeds from.

I love topping off my pepper plants. You are so right, there is way more production in my opinion 😊

I will have to do this to my tall spindly pepper seedlings?

I'm pruning my peppers for the first time this year and WOW, I can't believe the difference! My only worry is that since I'm also in zone 8b, will we have a long enough growing season for them to actually produce mature peppers? I know we're in the same zone so I'm hoping you can let me know? Thanks a bunch!

Can I do this safely on pepper plants that are 12-15” tall? Also what do you recommend to feed them regularly with?

Is it too late to prune my older pepper plants that are about a foot tall?

This method is most effective for changing the shape/habit of the plant, but it doesn't necessarily produce an increase in peppers. I've done comparisons, and the difference in production was negligible. It does make for a bushier plant, though, which requires less staking/support.

And for the insects attacking your leafs, use need oil plus water and add dish soap so the oil will wix well...then spray it on your pepper leafs
