My 16y/o daughter just had an mri, she was complaining of sever hip pain, with left outside of foot numbness and the back of her leg is numb as well. Turns out the pain in not actually in her hip. She has a slipped disc that is blocking that S1 nerve also another protrusion of another disc that is not hitting a nerve, that they can see. No we have to go to a spinal doctor to see how to fix this. She had been living with this for 5 months now...her pain level is pretty bad at times. It is safe that it takes so long to get help. All doctors want to do is check for this, check for that, then x-ray, which never shows anything, then last resort is an MRI. Now we wait another month and a half just to see another doctor. As much as we get charged this is really unacceptable. 16 and having to deal with this non sense. So I hope if u are watching this tryin to find some relief for u or a loved one, I hope you find it sooner than what it is taking us.

Been having this pain in my left foot, calf and leg since about August 2021. Have had hard time walking, hiking, sitting, standing etc. I'm 41 years old and in otherwise good health. Thought perhaps it was plantar fasciitis, went to podiatrist, got orthotics and no improvement. Went to Physical Therapist with no relief. Went to neurologist and she administered an EMG scan of all the nerves in my left leg. Sure enough she discovered a signal problem in the nerve off my S1. She believes it's pinched/compressed. Now I'm pushing to get an MRI to determine if I have a slipped, bulging disc, or some other issue. The pain in my foot, calf, leg and now lower back aren't dissipating, and I need my life back!

I have S1 nerve root compression abd l have to say the physiotherapists has been wonderful at diagnosing this isse which was confirmed on MRI. I am very appreciative that l live in the UK and we don't have to pay. I will be getting a nerve root block at somepoint , although l am a little nervous on the procedure. Dreads needles!

How do you get numbness to go away from an S1 injury and how to you regain normal strength back in the foot and calf after an S1 injury or compression?

How long does it take to recover your strength to stand on tippy toes normally?

My MRI shows a S1 nerve compression on the right side. A 9 mm disc extrusion L5-S1. I only have localized pain in my right buttock. Nothing in my leg or past the knee. Is it possible my pain is coming from somewhere else?

What would you suggest to relieve this pain? I was recommended microdiscectomy, but I’d like to clean up my diet and my gut and try physical therapy alongside medication before committing to surgery.

Thank you. I have S1 nerve damage due to a tumor in my spine. It caused both of my calves to atrophy to almost nothing. I cannot get on my tippy toes at all.

Ok fine, but what’s the treatment? Surgery? Microdiscectomy laminectomy etc? I had a laminectomy and in time was able to completely eliminate symptoms on right side.

Help! My wife just gave birth and once the epidural wore off she still has numbness on the edge and sole of her left foot only, everything else of her body has sensation expect the edge and sole. Including the top part of her foot she can feel that, she can move her foot up and side to side. She feels no pain anywhere just simply numbness which makes walking for her difficult. Our baby is 4 days old and I’m hoping that her foot will go back to normal.

Neurologist said is S1 nerve irritation but we want to know if it’ll got back to normal she’s had no injuries what’s so ever no pain she’s helathy but this happened after she got epidural and gave birth 4 days ago. Someone please respond and help 🙏🏻🙏🏻
