in my school we have a 30 minute period before lunch and on a friday, the prefects and stuff make a podcast and they take song requests from students.
the other day i was chatting to my friend and i heard “it’s 3:45” blast through the speakers and *the fucking teacher shouted AM*

edit: this teacher is my mentor (that 30 min period is called mentor period) and also my chemistry teacher :D he’s very cool. when i met him for the first time, he asked my name in the register, if there’s a name i prefer, and my pronouns :] and he lets students write their preferred names on books and stuff and he uses their preferred names in class :D
in chemistry we were talking about oxidation and he talked about copper and stuff and he let us watch a clip from a mumbo jumbo video of the copper blocks oxidising (in one of his super satisfying videos) and he told us about how blast furnaces work (and he referenced minecraft again)
he also has a minecraft world with another science teacher and one of the maths teachers too, and he’s dating his minecraft girlfriend lmao

since you seem to like him, here are some other cool things he’s done:
- when he introduced himself, he said “hello everyone! i am [his name] and my pronouns are he/him, i will be your teacher this year”
- when he met our class, he learnt everyone’s names so he could just mark them in the register by looking around the room instead of calling our names out, because some people in our class have really base social anxiety and hate calling out in class
- during mentor, he comes round and asks us how we are and lets us tell him about our plans/interests, and then the next time he sees you, he remembers and he’ll ask about them
- my phone wallpaper is a hidden aroace pride flag, and he asked what flag it was and what is meant and he’s very keen to learn more (he already knows a lot - and random piece of trivia, his favourite pride flag is abrosexual because he likes the watermelon colour scheme. and he learnt this by himself)
- he knows a lot of underground lgbtqia+ identities (such as toric/trixic, genderdoe/genderfaun, please let me know if that’s offensive and i’ll change it, aro/aceflux, obviously abrosexual/romantic, bigender, pangender, and even oriented aroace which is my sexuality! i’ve never met anyone who knew what it was)
- he refers to us as “students” or “pupils” despite the fact that it’s an all girls school, and he says like “oh they’ve gone to get their bag” instead of just using she/her for everyone
- on sports day in july 2021 we were all dressed in our house colours and he brought in a pride flag and wore it like a cape
- he lets us listen to music w/ headphones during revision lessons
- on our last chemistry lesson before christmas we did a general knowledge quiz and then watched christmas adverts instead of doing the work
- we chose the seating plan so we aren’t stuck next to someone we don’t like
- he is a star wars nerd and let us watch some in mentor once
- he puts a list of topics to revise for tests on google classroom and does revision google meets before every test

I'm a student DJ for my college's radio station, and I've played several Lovejoy songs on my sets. It's a small school, so it doesn't necessarily have a HUGE impact, but I love supporting talented creators and Wilbur's band certainly deserves it <3
