Area 51 is so secretive that even the stats for a length of runway differ from the Gov to Google.

That face you made after "this is gonna take a longer length" basically described my 12 year old mind lmao

The runway at Edward's Air Force Base is 15, 000 feet with a 9, 000 foot extension on a dry lake bed for a total of 24, 000 feet. It was used as an alternate landing location for the Space Shuttle.

The only runway after the one at Area 51 would be the one used for the Space Shuttle. That this is huge

If i remember correctly those black squares at the end of the runway are supposed to account for this.

In case of a scenario where a plane lands but cannot make any effort to stop, the black square areas collapse out from underneath the plane, allowing the landing gear to sink into the rubble and slow it down, bringing it to a full stop.

You can aerobrake by keeping the nose up. Once you’ve bled enough speed to no longer keep the nose up, you can hold full back on the stick and use the elevators to help break. Also modern runways have special “arresting pits” at the end of the runway that when the aircraft rolls over them, they sink and bring the aircraft to a stop almost instantly, just in case something like no breaks, no reverse thrust actually happens

The actual runway space at Area 51 is much much longer, once the tarmac ends you're supposed to turn right slightly and go around the circumference of the dry lake. If you look on Google maps you can vaguely see the tracks of the planes they tested going a full circle around the lake

The crazy thing about that Area 51 runway is that if you look closely at google maps, there is some kind of dirt work that carries on to the other side of the road in line with the runway. If you go the full length of that is a 32k runway
