I share the sentiment here about money printing as the primary issue. However, it is important to also note that monopolies, oligopolies, and cartels also can control prices as well. I say fix it all: the money, the monopolies, god bless America

Her lack of economic understanding is why she is a laughing stock. Inflation is the outcome of rising prices. There are different reasons why inflation occurs. Price gouging is just ONE of the mechanisms to drive inflation. You are just playing semantics to call it not inflation because companies are price gouging.

Now the real question is why the can company get away from price gouging at this moment. Simple economics say demand exceeds supply. If demand didn't exceed supply, then charging a higher price means the company loses business. But if demand exceeds supply, then the company gets away with a higher price.

Why so did demand exceed supply? The massive injection of QE money means more people are willing to pay a higher price for the same goods. On the other hand, the output is not catching up to pace because the labor participation rate hasn't recovered. Goods and services don't fall out of the sky, like mana. If you give people more money to buy things but you have fewer people producing things, prices have to get higher. It is really not rocket science.
