Doing Steel to Carbon Ceramic Brake Swap on M2CS (M3/M4) Episode 1

I thought this was a simple install. Since the M2 CS comes with F80 M3 brakes on it already, I assumed I could just swap the rotors, calipers, pads, and bleed the lines. Well...as you'll see in the next episode, we do need to swap the brake booster and code the car to tell it we have CCB.

Luckily my friend Sean from PSI saved my butt before I went for a test drive and ruined some really expensive rotors. The clamping force is different on CCB vs. steel.

“Gosh, this is so much fun” says the man with the lift, the complete set of Sonic tools, and a paid mechanic. 😝Some days I miss Matty laying in the ground in the yellow garage screaming “DANG IT” with blood hand while changing out for the 19th exhaust setup. 😁

Having watched you from the days of the C2S and the F80, this definitely gives you the ability to do much more complicated projects. Keep up the fun!

Those brake calipers look freaking awesome, way more subtle than the red ones. Seeing you unbox the Öhlins already gets me hyped up for the upcoming video.

If your CCB rotors age and the friction layer starts to deteriorate, mostly on track day or racing usage, the friction layer can be rebuilt to as new condition by Rebrake in Germany. This makes owning CCB a cost effective braking solution. Kudos to you for swapping the master cylinder.

Funny to me at lest, been there done that basically, but years ago. Then found out it was cheaper to buy a car with All Options always. Way cheaper in the long run. And I always, always get a build sheet for any car I buy to check if the car was built with what options.
Original, original, original, 1 owner, low milage, no accidents, no repaint, perfect history and you will never go wrong. Not to say I don't like what you do. I love it! That is why I'm watching. Keep up the good work. Very bold of you to open up about your issues as well very brave in todays world and makes you stronger! All the best!

The only thing I would’ve added was stainless steel flexible brake lines to replace the rubber lines. Great video as always, I always enjoy watching Matt spend money!

I'm very surprised that you did a steel to ccb brake conversion on the M2 cs and you didn't change the standard rubber hoses to braided, not optimised!. Thought you were Obsessed Garage.

Would be an upgrade fit that Booster with iron brakes? With better pads, fluid and steel lines... sorry for my poor english level, regards!

Incorrect. M2 comp has same setup. The calipers are just different colors. Red on the CS Silver on the Comp.

Hi two possibly stupid questions- I have a CS and the CCB kit to install. Why not install booster? Is it already on the car stock? Also, the pads don’t cover the entire with of the rotor, is that correct? Thanks

I def agree upgrading to CC's this way, is the wise path. I've seen this upgrade kit in person, rotor dia was different though. This M2 is gonna be on a whole other level. 😬The suspension showed up!? This whole set-up..the fenderwell's will contrast extremely well. We all know this build is being fitted with the best of what's out there. The future owner is really getting perfection. Well done so far.. .Im a lil surprised the GT4 is on its way out...but I get it. Im not a BMw person but I really wanna win this thing.

Great video and great editing. Clean and nice. What lens/camera combo do you use here, Mike?

Hopefully someone answers that knows, if these cc brakes are direct upgrade to m performance brakes on an m3/m4, would these be an upgrade that fit on any f series vehicle ? I don’t see any other hardware being used anywhere so not sure why they show as incompatible everywhere .

With all the carbon ceramic projects, investing in a rotor tester would be something I see Matt buying.
