Nikon 300mm f2.8 vr VS Nikon 200mm f2 vr

This is a comparison about Nikon's two excellent lenses. Nikon 300mm f2.8 vr versus Nikon 200mm f2 vr.

This are both amazing performers in terms of image quality. Sports,wildlife,portrait, you can shoot a lot of different things with these beasts!
After using them for sometime I decided to go for 300mm f2.8 vr. The only reason is: i needed the reach more than the wider aperture. When you are sooting wildlife, you can never get enough focal length!
If i was not shooting wildlife, i would choose the 200mm f2. But if i could afford the 400mm f2.8 vr + the 200mm f2 vr This would be an epic combo.

The first time I've seen a comparison (and a good one) of these lenses, I can't thank you enough...  Great job..!!!  It would've been nice for you to comment more accurately on the distances between you and the model for us to have a better sense of the usage of this great lenses; definitely keep them coming.

GREAT REVIEW! I just couldn’t decide between the two, although I have owned the Canon version previously. Currently both the Canon and Nikon 200mm f2.0 versions are discontinued, so the only option I have is the 300mm f2.8

I would request you to draw comparison of two lenses i.e. Nikon 200 F2 with 1.4 TC will make it approximately 280mm at F2.8

Will Nikon 200mm match quality of image at 280mm and F 2.8 ? with 300mm F 2.8

200mm f/2 VR2 is the best lens of Nikon is very different from 300mm VR2. Anyway the focal length of 300mm is more useful.

Hi Ozkan, apparently both lenses are out of my range, just wanted to know your thoughts on 85mm f1.8 or 135mm f2 dc, do you think 135mm is worth a shot?? using D610, appreciate your response.,

"I was not able to tell the difference in terms of sharpness between these two lenses"?! Its obvious that 300mm is sharper than 200! Just see the eyes of the model and you will know! I wonder why you say this.
