Awesome man, thank you. Just completed an overnight 10hr sous vide on a tri tip. heading into the smoker later and reverse sear. Gonna do cleaning step next go.

Citric Acid works very well for this as well as a chelating agent, it's cheap and I simply add and dissolve 1 Tblspn worth to my sous vide water bath, hard water never shows up doing this. (Sure you could use vinegar in the same way)

Good idea on using something that would not float to displace water/vinegar and not waste solution. I'm thinking I have a tall promotion cup from the movie theater that might work.

A glass wide and deep enough for the barrel to fit in will suffice just fine. You'll use about a cup or two of vinegar.

My only concern is damaging the temp sensor and getting inaccurate readings after. Tho, I feel the hard water is doing it already. I usually use Citric Acid powder for my coffee pot and carpet cleaner/steam mop. It actually works way better than vinegar, just my 2c. But I'm afraid to try either on my sous vide. Gonna do it anyway eventually as it's only getting worse with use.

I just use the Mason jar, but you have to use the widemouth style

I must have very hard buildup because mine didnt really improve with a vinegar bath

Mine has a sticker that says do not disassemble. It will void Warrany.
