0:39 It doesn't show in Operability for me, but I do NOT have 3DS Max on my computer and found a workaround. Go to Options > Work Environment, Work Environment > Command Layout Schemes > Menus, then where it says Commands and Menus select All menus in alphabetical order. Then, move "3D Studio" to menubar and the 3D Studio will show in the menu bar!

Only problem is, when you stack your scene/object with 3ds with lots of poligons (detailed trees are one good example) stuff in archicad, it becomes slow and erratic, it's not real rendering platftorm. Which is shame, since their included maxon shader works realy nice. This is where for ex., artlantis etc still hold its values, but it needs option for grass and all other cool stuff (bit i guess that what will make it slow too). Anyways, thanks for the totorial, your channel is really nice, hoping for some other useful stuff fro regular archicad work, too.

there was an onilne converter called yobi3d until january 2019, but it was shut down unfortunately. For almost every other format, there are some file converters online if you look it up.

this method can be helpful to open a 3dmax project file in ArchiCAD then use escape to render it..if I`m right

Why is 3d Studio necessary, if you already have downloaded a .3ds file?
The same routine can be done with Sketch-up files .skp downloaded from Warehouse.
