Fly tying CdC Stonefly | Hackles & Wings

Hackles & Wings Fly Tying videos! Today we're going to tie a CdC Stonefly. Mostly cdc and a little bit of moose makes a nice footprint on the water.

Materials :
Thread: Nanosilk 18/0 Beige
Hook: Tiemco 103 BL
Tail, Antennas: Moose Body Hair
Body, Thorax: CdC Black
Wings: CdC White

Great tying I think an egg sack would be a good addition to this fly. It would make a good addition for some more attraction. What do you think? All the best, I will be tying some of these up for a friend who loves dry fly fishing. Sean

Hey Simon, I found some 12/0 semperfly thread. Not in all the colors I would like. Is it very much thicker than the 18/0? I just got used to tying with the 18/0 and I can't believe how strong this thread is! I am happy I found it and I know I saw you torquing down on the thread but I thought I could break it. I found I couldn't unless I pulled hard enough to ruin the hook! Thanks for that. I am in hopes of getting some 12/0 if it isn't too much thicker than the 18/0. All the best to you. Sean
