Aang Wasn't Actually The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Second to Last Airbender

For years we’ve been led to believe that Aang is The Last Airbender. What reason do we have to believe otherwise? The Western, Northern, and Eastern Air Temples have all been ransacked, abandoned, or transformed for other uses. We saw how Monk Gyatso turned out so we can only assume the same happened to everyone else. But what if I were to say Aang wasn’t the last airbender and we have proof that he isn’t?

In The Legend of Korra, we witnessed the Harmonic Convergence, or an event when the planets align and the spirit world reconnects with the physical. Soon after this event, we saw a new generation of Airbenders rise out of nowhere. Where did they come from? That’s where our answer lies as there’s no way a new Airbender could appear unless they were direct descendants of the original Air Nomads!

So in today’s CBR ATLA Theory video, we are going to look at how the original Air Nomads survived the Sozin Comet attacks, and where they disappeared until the re-emergence of Airbenders in the time of The Legend of Korra. I also may have a big bombshell that will change how you view the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series. If you’re ready for all that hen buckle up let's get this video started! After we finish I want to hear your thoughts. Also, please leave a like on this video, subscribe, and hit the notification bell so you never miss a CBR Avatar video from us. Thanks for watching!

Ty Lee looks almost like a female version of Aang. She is also very light on her feet and can perform really hard tricks in the air. So I think the theory that she might be an airbender, or be at least related to them is true

Also, having knowledge of how Chi flows seems to be more or less exclusive to the Air Nomads. Air nomads' tattoos are representative of the chi pathways. No other culture really focused on chi in that way. It would make sense that, while Ty Lee's air nomad ancestor couldn't teach air bending, they passed on the knowledge of chi. (If i am wrong please correct me! I haven't read everything!)

The tile isn’t wrong Aang isn’t the last air bender. Aang is an airbender with Appa a sky bison you know the ORIGINAL airbender.

If there were other air nomads around I'm sure they would have revealed themselves once they got word that Aang/the Avatar had returned or after hearing the war was over with Ozai being defeated.

I've always thought there were probably other Airbenders that Aang probably just never met. In the same way that swamp benders aren't part of the water tribes, and the sun warriors are separate from the fire nation, there are probably Airbenders not affiliated with the Air Nomads.

This is actually EXACTLY the theory I was thinking ever since the "new" airbenders appeared in LOK. Descendents of escaped air nomads, or simply random descendents - since they were nomads, I'm sure they left a few illegitimate kids here and there, who eventually blended into the local population.

Surviving by going to the earth kingdom. Earth is the element of survival. This show will never cease to amaze me.

Kyoshi's mother also is an example as she became corrupted to the point of airbending with fans and giving birth to Kyoshi who is an earthbender avatar despite being an airbender (making Kyoshi the only known avatar born from parents of two different nations)

Honestly I've had this theory for a while and having it laid out so neatly was fantastic. The Ty Lee one my sister told me about and I took very little convincing. The chi blocking part though, That actually makes a lot of sense I never considered that. And I mean there had to be some high ranking people in the fire nation that didn't agree with the war but didn't want to die. Plus they may have been able to hide the kids who hadn't earned their tattoos yet with anyone that could realistically hide them. Aang himself had friends all over the world since they travel everywhere.

In the Netherlands. We call Avatar the last air bender. Avatar the legend of Aang. Not the last air bender.

Actually, there is one airbender that survived the whole time, guess who?

Appa. It was Appa. On the episode where aang tried to improve his firebendong and met the 2 last dragons, he said he needed to find the original source, for earth it was badger moles, for air it was air bisons.

The fire nation had 100 years to root out the airbenders, and the fire nation was incredibly powerful. They didn't find Aang because he was frozen in ice.
