Flying major airline passengers or freight, whats the difference

A lot of future pilots assume it's easy to get a job flying cargo then moving up to the major's. This isn't the case. Sorry I called it the regional airlines. I meant the majors' Jetlag and video don't mix.

Well you totally called it on how the airlines hiring boom wasn’t going to last forever. Currently trying to decide which path to go, cargo or passengers and this video helped a lot. Thank you very much!

Anyone else see the humor in a cargo pilot flying out of Hong Kong? LOL. Great video as always, Captain Scott!

I must congratulate this pilot for being so honest. Not many pilots accept what he said when he described that "They are not paying you ( the pilot) to take care of the passengers but to take care of the very expensive plane and expensive cargo!"
I put it in a slightly different manner, " A pilot works very hard to learn to fly and his only responsibility is to save his own life under all circumstances, as it is through that selfish philosophy that others gain a lot, including the pilot himself, the airline company, the passengers and the people on the ground! "
There is a lot of euphemistic talk about a pilot being responsible for the passengers, but he only speaks like that to better his own salary through appearing being responsible for other's people's by his hard training, it is his own life he is protecting and not that of others. Again congratulations to this pilot for being so honest and not using euphemistic statements to appear what he is not!

Speaking of personal checks, I was behind an elderly lady at a grocery store and she was writing a check, even had the check book and then she wrote the check info down on the little ledger in the check book, ha. It was great.

Good information here. I have worked for UPS for 25 years and I'm 42 now. I got my license a few years ago and am building hours now. I figured in 3 more years I can get into an airline and start a second career. Staying at UPS would be great but I'm sure they won't want a fresh 1500hr atp guy and will want an experienced guy. Either way it was a boyhood dream to fly and I have been able to achieve that and even if it's just a regional, I'm still flying! Then I can work towards the big boy leagues.

In 3 weeks I'll lose 600+ hours of sick leave when I quit my job as a bus driver here in Adelaide, Australia. BUT the Dominican Republic & Guyana seems more interesting now that I'm immunised against COVID19 🍺🥃❤️. Seniority is only an issue when you look in the mirror!. I'm hoping my visa interview @USA Consulate in Melbourne goes well - I toured Iran ☕ - 2019. Dodgy home builders here Down Under - I avoided signing a contract with one!. Cheers Captain Scott 👍

I've been hauling mail for a major company now for 21 years now. Wouldn't dream of ever going back to hauling pax again....from dealing with drunks in cattle class to not being able to yank and crank visuals into smaller airports. Once you're used to being a nightcrawler/mushroom...it's just part of life and you adjust.

Interesting to hear you say that the pilot shortage may be over in five years' time. If so, would you recommend low-time pilots to get into the airlines the sooner the better? I ask as I'm 45 and finally about to train for my PPL and CPL, hoping to work up in northern Canada for some memorable experiences before making the jump to an airline. I don't want to miss the boat (plane) so to speak. Advice?

Captain Scott, how come cargo airlines can be profitable with "older" aircraft, like the MD-11, which is not in service with passenger airlines? I'm curious as to the economics involved. I live in the Denver area, and I remember flying on United's DC-8-70 series planes, and after United stopped using them, I saw them in UPS colors.
