How to Angle a Drill Bit 'Using a SIMPLE TRADE SECRET'

This is a possible way to Angle a Drill Bit without Official Equipment, instead using just two 12mm Nuts. I have used this method for a number of years so i thought I would share it with you.

The angle is important for cutting and maximum life out of the sharpening, but there is another factor and that's getting the tip, or junction of the angle absolutely centered on the bit or else it won't cut centered to where you want it but instead it will pull to one side and tend to make the hole larger than the bit. Depending on what you're using the drill for, this may or may not be important to the end users. I use my drill bits for metal machine work and I want accuracy within a few thou.

A few people have told me the nut trick... I just wished I knew it BEFORE I went out and bought a gauge!

If I cut a block of wood at 118 dgr and notch it in the middle for a drill bit I should be able to sharpen it on my disc or belt sander but what grit do you think would work best ?

Hardest thing regarding re sharpening drill bits is to make the tip of the drill dead centre if not you will wind up with a oversized hole with a ledge at the far end

Sharpen correct you keep the angle. By good bits and do not change the angle.
