Imagine being one of the massive dinosaurs born during that 150 YEAR period and never knowing that the world wasn’t a soot covered hell where your species is going extinct.

I love the fact that you do different takes for shorts and the main videos! Thanks for the level of detail and effort you all out in these. I look forward to watching more

It might be the reason that we're here today, but the fact that it happened also gives us a reason to be afraid that it'll happen again.

The Radio Lab podcast has the best and coolest explanation of this and it perfectly explains the KT line.

It just makes me so sad to think that everything in life was normal for them and they had no way of knowing this was going to happen. And then something that’s never ever happened before to them occurs. Imagine the shock? And they’d be so confused? And so scared 😭

66 million years ago? Man time is going by fast. I remember 10 years ago when it was 65 million years ago.

Why is it the morbid questions that I always find myself being most curious about?? 😂 (loved the short, was really interesting. I think I’ll watch the longer video! :D)

Globally, there was a Dominoe effect. No light meant no plants, the end of the herbivores, the carnivores soon followed. The oceans lost a great deal of species as well. Also, the first mammals survived on small patches of vegetation, mosses and lichens.

Whenever extinctions are brought to the table always reminds me that 99% of the animals that ever existed are extinct and lost in time. Going deep into the rabbit hole of what we know and will never be known about our planet is such an interesting subject.

It must've been so scary for them

I've read that a lot of that debris in the atmosphere would rain down across the planet like shards of molten glass eradicating most of the dinosaurs within a day to a few days, which is one of the most horrific ways I could imagine a mass extinction occurring.

This is a great topic for kids to learn in the lower elementary grades for a science project. we did this topic and they enjoyed creating a diorama and learned all the details during first grade. It’s surprising how much knowledge the kids understand and retain when you print out colorful pics and make a fun diorama.

Also something important to consider is that most dinosaurs were cold blooded. They couldn't bask to ward off infections with the sun being blocked out, so they were more suspeptible to disease than us warm blooded mammals and smaller warm blooded dinosaurs.

Wasn't there also a very long decline of the dinosaurs prior to this due to extreme volcanic activity?

It's comforting to know that in 180 million years, only one world ending asteroid hit earth.
